GIRARD MAN A SUICIDE

J. L. Morgan Kills Himself in a Kansas City Cafe

Kansas City, June 4---J. L. Morgan, formerly manager of the Normandie hotel, 804 Central street, entered the Dizzy saloon at 311 West Ninth street at 9:30 o'clock last night and asked for a free drink. The bartender told him to "get out." Morgan walked into the cafe adjoining the saloon and, taking a seat at one of the tables in a booth near the door, placed a pistol to his right temple and fired. The ball crushed in the right side of Morgan's skull and he died at the city hospital at 10 o'clock this morning.

Morgan formerly lived in Girard, Kan., where he was engaged in the cattle business. He was 50 years old and had no relatives living. His wife and only child, a daughter, died many years ago. Since coming to Kansas City, five years ago, he lost considerable money and then he began drinking to excess.
