A variety of photography memorabilia collected by The Jeffcoat family for your "viewing" delight.

The Jeffcoat Museum was a vision of Bill Jeffcoat, the grandson of Lucy Belle Fritz Jeffcoat & Lawson Eugene Jeffcoat. Lucy started refinishing photos when she was 16 in 1887. Her son Bud (Paul Henry) Jeffcoat started their photo shop in 1921 and later built the shop at the present location in 1925. Bill later bought it and continued the operation. A collection of Kodak cameras, equipment, photos taken and personal collections such as mechanical banks are on display for all to enjoy.

Not only was the photography studio a place to have family portraits taken, it served as the headquarters for The Associated Press, during the funeral of President Eisenhower.

Note: Your host for Genealogy Trails, Dickinson County, Kansas is the great grand daughter of Ruth Ellen Fritz Van Horne, the youngest sister of Lucy Belle Fritz Jeffcoat. I have in my possession a few family photograph's that were taken at Jeffcoat Studio. I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Jeffcoat in the 1990's and he graciously gave me a tour of the studio and Abilene, Kansas. Following my visit with Bill we occasionally stayed in touch and he mailed me a few duplicate photo's of our Fritz ancestor's and cousin's.
