94, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lecompton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don R. Flanner officiating.

Miss Bahnmaier died today, Jan. 8, 1992, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1897, at Lecompton, the daughter of George Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Neis Bahnmaier.
Miss Bahnmaier grew up in Lecompton and attended Douglas County schools. She also attended the Bonebrake Seminary
in Dayton, Ohio. She had worked as a cook at the Kansas Union, Theta Tau fraternity and the Varsity House, all
at Kansas University.
She was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church, a life member of the Lecompton Historical Society
and a member of several quilting groups in Lawrence.
Survivors include a sister, Ester Matney, Morris, Ill.

Mrs. Bahnmaier died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at United Methodist Home, Topeka.
She was born Oct. 4, 1908, in Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Bahnmaier lived most of her adult life on the family farm southwest of Lecompton before moving to Topeka.
She was a homemaker and a former member of the Stull United Methodist Church.
She married Andrew Bahnmaier on May 20, 1931. He died Aug. 17, 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Leah Mae Shaw, Silver Lake; a son, John Bahnmaier, Gladstone, Mo.; three grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

LAWRENCE --- Marion Lavon "Bub" Baugher, 63, Lawrence, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in Lawrence.
Mr. Baugher worked in construction for most of his life.
He was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Lecompton, the son of Sheldon and Evelyn McMillen Baugher. He was raised in Lecompton
and graduated from Lecompton High School.
He married J. Elaine Kay. They divorced.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Baugher, Lecompton; two sons, Terry Baugher, Eudora, and Loren Baugher, Lawrence;
a brother, Larry Lee, Lecompton; a sister, Gloria Ward, McLouth; and a granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stull Cemetery. Mr. Baugher will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.

Services for Walter L. Bell,
78, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with military honors by Dorsey-Liberty Post

Mr. Bell died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 3, 1925, in Ottawa, the son of Albert Loren Bell and Frances Opal Wilkens.
A graduate of Ottawa High School, Mr. Bell served as a Merchant Marine during World War II and in the Army during
the Korean War. He then worked for Mobile Oil Co. and Snap-On Tools. He moved to Lawrence in 1961 and worked in
the pharmacy department at Kansas University for 20 years before he retired in 1987.
Mr. Bell was a member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion and Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Ruth Marie Well on Jan. 30, 1959, in Quitman, Miss. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, John J. Richardson, Albuquerque, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

She was born April 3, 1938, in Carbondale, the daughter of Marshall P. and Bertha J. Beyless Redmond. She lived
in Topeka until moving to Lawrence in 1960. She attended Highland Park High School. She was employed for 18 years
by the Lewis Veterinarian Clinic in Lawrence.
She married Leo J. Bidinger, Sept. 2, 1955, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lea Ann Cooper, Lawrence; two sons, Leon J., Perry, and Joe C., Ben Salem,
Pa.; three sisters, Eileen Best and Jean Berry, both of Topeka, and Bernice Reavis, Del Rio, Tex.; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Bowen died Friday at a Topeka nursing home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1904, near Richland. She lived and worked in Richland through World War II and worked as
a proofreader for Kansas Color Press in Lawrence until her retirement in 1974.
She married Roy S. Bowen on Dec. 31, 1922, in Lawrence. He died in 1939.
Survivors include a son, Bobby R. Bowen, Berryton; a daughter, Beverly K. Nicholson, Wakarusa; a sister, Bessie
Montfoort, Overbrook; four grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Confer died Monday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka.
He was born June 8, 1890, at Richmond, Mo. He later lived in Clay, Riley and Douglas counties in Kansas.
Mr. Confer worked as a farmer, for a railroad, the Kansas Highway Department and Commonwealth Theatres. He retired
in 1987.
A veteran of World War I, he once belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
On Sept. 24, 1919, in Clay Center, he married Marie Eppler. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Walter, Clay Center, and Melvin, Big Springs; a daughter, Carol McCune, Lawrence;
six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Mr. Hildenbrand was a farmer and stockman near Stull.
He was a member and elder of Stull Church of Christ and a member of the Lecompton Historical Society. He also was
sexton of Stull Cemetery for many years.
He married Rosa L. Roller on Oct. 22, 1924, near Stull. She died March 31, 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Hildenbrand, Lecompton; and two sisters, Dorothy Moss, Topeka, and Naomi Nelson-Adair,
South Bend, Ind.

Mr. Hildenbrand died Friday at a Topeka hospital after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 8, 1907, in a farm home south of Big Springs. His family moved to Lecompton in 1912, and he graduated
from Lecompton High School. He lived in the Shawnee Heights Community for the past 30 years.
Mr. Hildenbrand was a member of the United Brethren Church and a life member of Lane University Museum, both in
Lecompton. He was a member of three senior citizens groups: the Sunshiners of Shawnee Heights, Golden Times of
Berryton and Goldenrods of Lecompton.

OSKALOOSA --- Clifford W. Houk,
79, Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at a Lawrence hospital after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 12, 1923, on the family farm at Stull, the son of George and Emma Walter Houk. He graduated from
Lawrence High School in 1941 and had lived in Oskaloosa since 1972.
Mr. Houk was a dairy farmer in the family dairy, where was a co-owner and operator of the CAJ Dairy, southeast
of Oskaloosa since 1972.
Mr. Houk was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. He served as mayor of Oskaloosa and as a former Jefferson
County commissioner. He also served on the board of directors for Mutual Savings Association and the Extension
Council for both Douglas and Jefferson counties.
Mr. Houk was a former community leader for the Stull Busy Beavers Club in Douglas County and the Jolly Juniors
4-H Club in Jefferson County.
He married Phyllis Irene Forrester on June 4, 1944, at Stull. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, John Houk, Oskaloosa; a daughter, Mary Smith, Topeka; a brother, Ralph Houk, Winter
Haven, Fla.; a sister, Hazel Wise, Raytown, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Houk was preceded in death by two sons, Allen Jay Houk, on Aug. 17, 2003, and Steven Houk, who died in infancy,
and two brothers, Harold Houk and Russell Houk.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Stull Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church.

and was employed as title clerk for Texas County Chrysler in Guymon.
She was married to Richard Steven Lusk on Nov. 16, 1962, in Amarillo, Tex. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Tracy Perkins and Tina Meyer, both of Texhoma; a son, Steven Lusk, Guymon;
two sisters, Tanya Herald, New Milford, Conn., and Jan Durham, Dallas; a brother, Adrian Pendergrass, San Antonio;
and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Jane Lusk.

He was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Lawrence, the son of Hubert and Caroline (Bowen) Lusk. He graduated from school in
Berryton, Kan.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Texas County Precinct 3. He did farming and electrical work. He was a member
of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He married Patricia Ann Pendergrass Nov. 16, 1962. She died in 1996. He married Sue (Grabeal) Smalts June 21, 1997.
She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Tracy D'Ann Perkins and Tina Meyer, both of Texhoma, Tex.; a son, Steven,
Pampa, Tex.; a stepdaughter, Shawna Schramm, Texhoma, Tex.; two stepsons, Kam Smalts, Hammon, Okla., and Lane Smalts,

She died Wednesday, March 23, 1994, at a Topeka nursing home. She was born Oct. 2, 1896, at Stull, the daughter
of George and Minnie Neis Hildenbrand.
She lived most of her life in the Shawnee Heights area.
She graduated from Lawrence's Liberty Memorial High School and attended Kansas State Normal School in Manhattan.
She was a charter member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church and had been a member of United Methodist Women
for 80 years.
She taught children's Sunday School classes for many years and was a graduate of the Flo Menninger Bible Class.
She married George C. Moss Oct. 15, 1918, at Stull. He died Oct. 1, 1982. A daughter, Georgine Bigos, and an infant
son also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Esther Wulfkuhle, Lecompton; a sister, Naomi Nelson, Adair; four granddaughters and
six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Myers died Thursday, May 27, 1999, in rural Lawrence.
She was born June 29, 1908, in Arkansas City, the daughter of Dennis B. Delgadillo and Mary (Caduge) Delgadillo.
She moved to the Lawrence area in 1934 from Mayetta.
She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Holton, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Ladies Auxiliary, Lecompton. She was also a member of the Prairie Band of the Potawatomi Indian Tribe, Mayetta.
She married Claude L. Myers. He died in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Claude L. Myers, Jr., Topeka; four daughters, Mary Rose Manis, Topeka, Regina Andrew,
Lawrence, Claudette Oldham, Lecompton, and Katherine Flood, Mt. Morris, Mich.; a brother, Anthony Delg, Topeka;
a sister, Virginia Jacobson, Mayetta; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerome Myers in 1935.

She married Jess M. O'Connor on June 13, 1919, in Lyndon. He died Aug. 12, 1969.

Mrs. Richardson died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Newman Hospital, Emporia.
She was born June 22, 1910, in Hugoton, the daughter of Stephen S. and Emma E. (Fitzgerald) Holloway. She was raised
in Big Springs and moved in 1934 to rural Melvern, where she lived until she moved to Melvern in 1982.
Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker. She wrote the Melvern News for the Osage County newspaper for several years. She
was a member of Melvern United Methodist Church.
She married Marvin Richardson on July 16, 1927, in Olathe. He died December 25, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Gaylord, Overbrook, and Dale, Carthage, Mo.; four daughters, Betty Bumgardner, Platteville,
Wis., Addie Hoffsommer, Overbrook, Lois Maine, Olivet, and Cheryl Valliquette, Seligman, Mo.; 27 grandchildren;
67 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Thayer, and a daughter, Evelyn, died earlier.

Services for Dick D. "Sandy" Sanders,

Mr. Sanders died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1944, in Leavenworth, the son of Walter and Lena Blanchard Sanders. He had lived in Lawrence
for 16 years.
Mr. Sanders had worked as an equipment manager for CAS Construction Co. since 1992. He formerly worked for Martin
Tractor Co. and for W.A. Dunbar and Sons.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Bicentennial Post No. 225 in

Mr. Sanders was a graduate of Independence (Kan.) High School and attended Pittsburg State University.
He married Bertha Sawyers on July 20, 1984, in Miami, Okla. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Independence, Kan.; two daughters, Christy Stegman, Topeka, and Deborah Sanders,
Champaign, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Shelley Wolfhope, Austin, Texas; two stepsons, Greg Woelk, Topeka, and Mark Woelk,
Lawrence; two sisters, Mary Passauer and Judy Quigley, both of Independence; and five grandchildren.
A daughter, Marsha Sanders, died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Services for Elmer D. Schneider,
77, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Rev. James Rodgers officiating. Burial
will be in Stull Cemetery, Stull.
Mr. Schneider died Friday, Sept. 18, 1992, after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Richland, the son of Valentine and Pearl Thatcher Schneider. He attended school in
Topeka and lived a few years in Pineville, Ark. He spent most of his life in the Stull and Lawrence areas.
Mr. Schneider worked for the Kansas Turnpike Authority for 16 years before retiring in 1980. He owned the El Navajo
Auto Court, service station and grocery store for a number of years. He also managed several service stations in
Lawrence.
He was an active member of the Aerie No. 309 Fraternal Order of Eagles for 26 years, serving as trustee for 12
years. He also was a member of Stull United Methodist Church, Retired Eagles Activity Club and the Elk's Lodge
of Ottawa.
He married Pearl Houk on Oct. 6, 1940. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Elmer of Topeka; two daughters, DeAnn Rahmeier and Deneise Schneider, both of Lawrence;
a sister, Sevilla McDermed of Topeka; a brother, Carl of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and
one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice Care of Douglas County or the Douglas County Visiting Nurses
Assn.

Mr. Schwemmer died Monday, March 20, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Topeka, the son of David and Anna Schwemmer. He moved to Lyndon in 1969 from Stull.
Mr. Schwemmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of the
Lyndon United Methodist Church.
He married Wilma Wulfkuhle on April 16, 1942, in Stull. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Joyce Pierce, Lyndon; two sisters, Bertha McFarland, Boerne, Tex., and Molly
Morgan, Sun City, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A daughter, Cynda Kay Schwemmer, died August 20, 1982.

Services for Alma M. Walter,
91, rural Lecompton, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Stull Cemetery in Stull.
Mrs. Walter died today, May 15, 1992, at the Woodlands Health Center in Topeka.
She was born Nov. 29, 1900, in rural Linwood, the daughter of Fredrick Torneden and Caroline Kampschroeder.
She grew up in Linwood and attended schools there. She also attended the Lawrence Business College.
Mrs. Walter trained and worked at McConnell Hospital in Lawrence, which was located at the northeast corner of
Eighth and New Hampshire. She also worked in Kansas City, Mo., and Topeka. She worked at Children's Mercy Hospital
in Kansas City, Mo., for 10 years.
She moved to Warsaw, Mo., in 1956 and worked with her husband in real estate development. They owned and operated
a candle shop, wrought iron shop and White Branch water system in Warsaw. She retired in 1984.
She was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church.
She married Madison C. Walter on March 4, 1931, in Paola. He died July 6, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Melvin M. Walter, Big Springs; two brothers, Albert Torneden, Lawrence, and Arnold Torneden,
rural Tonganoxie; a sister, Lillian Gantz, Lawrence; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was born Oct. 29, 1915 in Douglas County, the son of August Albert Walter and Anna Elizebeth Nichols.
A farmer and stockman, Mr. Walter grew up in the Stull community and attended Mound School. He moved to rural Oskaloosa
in 1980 and was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Stull.
He married Ella Mae Casey on Sept. 15, 1949 in Stull. She died June 27, 1981.
Survivors include a son, August C. Walter, Perry; a daughter, Charlene Norman, Oskaloosa; a sister, Leatha Worthington,
Lecompton; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Wulfkuhle died Sunday, April 23, 1995, at a Topeka care home.
He was born May 19, 1899, in Stull, the son of William and Mary Buchheim Wulfkuhle. He farmed in the Stull area
all of his life and was active in the Stull community. He was a member of Stull United Methodist Church.
He married Pearl L. Boehringer on Dec. 25, 1922, in Stull. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Clarence, Berryton, Wayne, Tecumseh, and Lloyd, Lecompton; three daughters,
Erma Worley, Lawrence, Eula Butler, Seattle, and Velma Howbert, Berryton; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clinton, in June 1950; an infant son, Clayton; and a daughter, Lily Sather,
on Oct. 28, 1949.

LAWRENCE- Funeral services for Donald Leroy Wulfkuhle, 80, Lawrence, were held last Thursday at the Stull United Methodist Church. Burial followed
at the Stull Cemetery.
Mr. Wulfkuhle died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at the Ottawa Retirement Center in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born May 29,
1926 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Harry O. and Helen H. (Bahnmaier) Wulfkuhle.
Mr. Wulfkuhle attended Yarnold School and Lawrence High School. He was a member of the Stull United Methodist Church.
He farmed with his father Harry until he volunteered for the Air Force in 1951. Donald served in the Air Force
at Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, Texas, where he met Shirley D. Hilliard and they married on June 20. 1953, she survives.
He was a truck driver in Korea before ending his career in Wichita, Kansas where he was honorably discharged in
1955. Donald and Shirley bought a farm near his parents where he started a family, farmed, and raised cattle.
Mr. Wulfkuhle was a regular at the coffee shop and enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include sons, Chris and wife Kathy of Spring Hill, Kansas; and Kenny and wife Leah of Perry, Kansas;
daughter Carol Cooper and husband Gary of Osawatomie, Kansas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren..

Mr. Wulfkuhle lived in Stull all his life. He was a farmer and stockman. He attended Yarnold School and was a member
of the Stull United Methodist Church.
He married Frances Scharlotte Bahnmaier on April 16, 1922, in Lawrence. She survives at the home. A son, Wesley,
died in 1985.
Other survivors include a son, Homer, of Stull; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wulfkuhle died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Sept. 1, 1901, in Lecompton, the daughter of Charles F. and Alice Elizabeth (Buchheim) Bahnmaier.
She attended school at Lecompton.
Mrs. Wulfkuhle was a lifelong resident of Stull until she moved to Presbyterian Manor. She was a member of Stull
United Methodist Church.
She married Ernest Frederick Wulfkuhle on April 16, 1922, in Lawrence. He died Aug. 6, 1993.
Survivors include a sister, Florence Mitchell, Lawrence; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Two sons preceded her in death. Wesley Wulfkuhle died in April 1985, and Homer Wulfkuhle died Jan. 19, 1998.

Mr. Wulfkuhle died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at a Lawrence hospital.
He was born June 15, 1935, in Topeka, the son of Ernest and Frances Wulfkuhle. He attended Big Springs grade school
and graduated from Berryton Rural High School in 1954. He was a lifelong farmer and stockman in the Stull area.
He was a member of the Stull United Methodist Church, where he held various offices. He served on the Federal Land
Bank board and the Wakarusa Watershed board. He was a member of the Douglas County Farm Bureau and served as a
board member. He was a member of the Douglas County Livestock Assn. and active in the Kansas Young Farmers. He
received the Kansas Young Farm Family Award.
He married Judith Ericson on Sept. 23, 1956, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, of Lawrence; two daughters, Gayle Vannicola, Lecompton, and Lisa Pearson, Scott
City; two sons, Mark, Berryton, and Brian, Lawrence; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Wulfkuhle died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, at a Topeka care home.
She was born July 17, 1900, in Bethel, Mo., the daughter of John and Lillie Kraft Boehringer.
She lived in Bethel until the age of three. She lived in Stull until 1991, when she moved to Topeka. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Stull United Methodist Church, Richland Flower Club and the Jolly Quilters.
She married Arthur E. Wulfkuhle on Dec. 25, 1922, in Stull. He died on April 23, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lily Sather, on Oct. 28, 1949; an infant son, Clayton, in 1933; and
another son, Clinton, in June 1950.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence, Berryton, Wayne, Tecumseh, and Lloyd, Lecompton; three daughters, Erma
Worley, Lawrence, Eula Butler, Seattle, and Velma Howbert, Berryton; a sister, Ruby Findley, Newton; 18 grandchildren
and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was born June 9, 1922, in Stull, the son of Harry O. and Helen Bahnmaier Wulfkuhle. He lived his entire life
in the Big Springs and Stull communities.
Mr. Wulfkuhle was a farmer. After retiring, he read meters for Kaw Valley Electric Co. He was a lifelong member
of Stull United Methodist Church, Mount Oread Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 309 and the Lecompton Historical
Society.
He married Maxine A. Hawes. She died earlier.
Survivors include a son, Harry R., Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, Donald, Perry; and two grandsons.

PERRY- Funeral services for Shirley D. Wulfkuhle, 78, Perry, (formerly of Richmond) will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stull United Methodist
Church. Burial will follow at Stull Cemetery.
Mrs. Wulfkuhle died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Ottawa Retirement Village.
She was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of William Robert and Frances Park Hilliard. She graduated
from high school in Fort Worth in 1947.
Mrs. Wulfkuhle was employed by Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator in Topeka and Ottawa. Later she was a
telephone information operator for The University of Kansas. She helped with the family farm until part of it was
taken to create Clinton Lake. She was a member of Stull United Methodist Church, and was an avid Jayhawk fan. She
enjoyed crafts, tole painting, woodcarving, chair caning, gardening, watching college football, basketball and
the Kansas City Royals.
She married Donald Leroy Wulfkuhle on June 20, 1953, while he was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort
Worth. He died May 27, 2007.
Survivors include two brothers Robert Hilliard, Longview, Texas and William Hilliard, Ennis, Texas; two sons, Chris
and wife Kathy, Spring Hill, Kenny and wife Leah, Perry; a daughter, Carol Cooper and husband Gary, Osawatomie;
eight grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson and husband James, Stacy, Randi, Alex, Gina, and Daniel Wulfkuhle, Nicole
and Lindsey Cooper; and three great grandchildren, Avery, Alyssa and Ashley Anderson.

She was born Oct. 27, 1910, in rural Douglas County, the daughter of William F. and Emmaline M. Edson Yahn. She
attended public schools and graduated from Lawrence High School and Kansas University. She remained in Lawrence
until she moved to Chanute in 1984. She attended the First Baptist Church in Lawrence.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Yahn, Lawrence.
