Welcome to

Graham County Genealogy Trails

Where Your Journey Begins

Welcome to Kansas Trails' Graham County. Our goal is helping you find your ancestors by placing data on-line for the free use of all researchers. We are proud to expand Kansas with Graham County, providing our "experience" gained from years of researching our ancestors and website hosting. We want to hear about you and the history of your ancestors from this beautiful county in the great state of Kansas.

We also need, and welcome, contributions of your data, history and stories to make this a great place to research. Everything is helpful: Obituaries, Biographies, Photos and County History, to name a few.

As data becomes available, we will put it online. Information will be posted as fast as we can find, type and/or receive it. We welcome your feedback and comments, and of course, your data contributions. We regret that we are unable to perform personal research for folks. Thank you for visiting and please come back again to view the updates made to this site.

You are welcome to use the data found here in your research. Please remember this data represents hours of painstaking research by the State Coordinator, County Host, Volunteers, and Contributors who donate to this site. Show your respect for these efforts by not using it on other websites or publications without written permission of the host and/or Contributors nor claim as your own.

If you wish to submit data of any type to this site, it will be graciously accepted and added as quickly as feasible.

Remember:
  • Submitted data will always be YOURS.
  • CONTROL of any submitted data is yours.
  • At any time, you can choose to remove it or keep it online.

Your Graham County hostess is Jackie Wilson Goddard.

Graham County was organized 1 April 1880 and named after Captain John L. Graham, Kansas 8th Regiment, who was killed in action in the Civil War at the Battle of Chickamauga on 19 September 1863. The first county seat was Millbrook, which was destroyed by a tornado 4 August 1887.

Hill City has been the county seat since 1888; other communities are Bogue, Morland, Nicodemus, Penokee and St. Peter. Communities of the past include Roscoe, Smithfield, Gradan, Millbrook and Gettysburg.
