Anderson Cemetery is located in the SW quarter of 27-7-25 in Gettysburg Township and was originally part of the homestead of John Anderson. Mr. Anderson, formerly of Missouri, was residing in Millbrook where he was managing Howell Bros. Lumber Co. when he became ill in March 1888. Knowing he was going to die, he requested to be buried on his farm in Gettysburg Township and his daughter's grave also be moved there. Although Mr. Anderson died and was buried in March 1888, his funeral services were not held until the following Memorial Day (then known as Decoration Day).
On July 8, 1890 the cemetery was platted by C. E. Atkin Co., Surveyor and is 360 feet square, containing three acres and two-one hundredths. A five-member board of directors was elected on July 14, 1894: D. C. Stotts, Benjamin Smith, G. C. Godard, George Baird and W. C. Brown.
Directions: On U.S. Hwy 24, approximately 1.25 miles west of the Morland exit, turn North on 130 Avenue. Continue driving North for three miles then turn East (right) on T Road. The cemetery is on the North side of the road, less than one-half mile after the turn.
