Smith Grocery Store
A New Store. The Smith Grocery Store, complete
in its remodeling program is as different from the former arrangement of the store as an entirely new store. New,
modern, steel shelving has replaced the former wooden furniture and new cigar and candy cases have been ordered,
Mr. Smith said. A new counter which is the very latest, and juding only from the cost of the counter, it should
be a dandy, will be installed in the grocery department. The ready-to-wear and dry goods department has not been

W. L. Mowry has Visitors
Saturday afternoon Mrs. Media Humes and daughter,
Imogene, Mrs. Edith Kennicott and daughter Darlene, of Bunker Hill, arrived for a visit with their parents, W.L.
Mowry and wife. Sunday morning their husbands and Donald and Vaughn Humes came. Also Floyd Mowry and family of
Gorham joined the group for a partial family reunion through the day. This proved an enjoyable occasion for all

Lightning Does Damage,

by lightning Thursday evening and burned to the ground. The loss was partly covered by insurance. Lightning also

Students In Wreck
Narrowly Escape Serious Injuries In Automobile
Accident.
Casey Jones of Hill City, Claude Gates, Arlene
and Leona Kobler of Penokee, who are students at colleges in Hays, featured in an automobile accident while returning
to their respective homes Friday evening in Casey's auto. When three miles west of Hays, the party of pipe line
workers accosted the driver of a car directly ahead of them, who slackened his speed in response. Casey to avoid
a collision, made a quick turn around the car and collided with an east bound oil truck. Miss Arlene received face
lacerations but no serious personal injuries resulted.
Casey's car resembles a junk heap and some damage
