COVALT, Betty Lou

A bud that the Gardener gave us
A pre and lovely child,
He gave her in our keeping
To cherish undefiled.
But just as it was opening,
To the glory of the day,
Down came the Heavenly Gardener
And took our flower away.

Betty Lou, daughter of William and Myrtle Covalt of Morland was born November 18, 1930 near Morland and passed away June 20, 1935 at the Norton Hospital after an illness of only a few days. She was the youngest daughter of a family of ten children and during her short life of less than 5 years she won the love and admiration of all whose pleasure it was to know her. That sweet happy face and loving smile will long be remembered and we know the Angles [sic] in Heaven are rejoicing for the addition to the childrens chorus up there.

She leaves to mourn her passing her father and mother, five sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Ruth Kennedy of Pueblo, Colorado, Pauline, Wilma Esther, and Deepha; Roy, Wehrle, Charles and Verlan all of the home. Her grandmother, Mrs. Swisher of Morland and many other relatives and friends. Those who knew her best loved her most.

No stain was on her little heart,
Sin had not entered there;
And innocence slept sweetly on
That pail white brow so fair.
She was too pure for this cold earth,
Too beautiful to stay
And so God's holy angel bore
Our darling one away.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Morland Saturday, June 22 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Dick had charge of the service. The choir composed of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hunsick-- [remainder of obituary missing].

Note: Burial was in the Morland Cemetery.
