NATIVE AMERICAN ARTICLES Jackson County, Kansas Transcribed by Jim Laird
THE INDIAN RESERVATIONS A. D. Walker left yesterday for Washington, accompanied by the Hiawatha member of the Pottawatomie and Kickapoo Indian commission. A special agent of the department recently visited both agencies and held a conference with the Indians. The commission through Congressman Morrill, will present to President Harrison a long petition asking him to order the Indians to accept their allotments and the sale of the remaining lands in each reservation. The people of this county wish the commission success in their important work. (The Holton Weekly Signal, Wednesday, August 6, 1890) |
