Carwood School did not open for the fall term of 1959 and was disorganized in 1962.

The last teacher in Black School was Marian Chistester in late December of 1872, due to the loss of the first log cabin schoolhouse by fire.

The first teachers for the new school named Carmel at the new site were J.W. Lowe for the fall term to E.E. Birkett for the spring session.

The first teacher in the second Carmel schoolhouse built in 1903 on the same site was Nannie Maxwell.

The last teacher for Carmel was Mary Pitsche for the 1944 to 1944 and 1945 school year.

The first teacher in the consolidated district called Carwood was Lea Riggert for the 1950 to 1951 school year. Claire Jones taught the last year of 1958-1959.

pg.169

Mrs. Winifred Nelson was the county superintendent at the time of the consolidation of the Carmel to Glenwood districts.

Mrs. Corrine Richards was the superintendent during the disorganization and sale of the Carwood schoolhouse and land.
