BLANTON, MARJORIE

Funeral services for Marjorie Blanton, 6 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Blanton of Topeka, who died Friday, were held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home. Burial in Mount Hope cemetery, Topeka. BOWERS, MARY

Mrs. Bowers Dead

Mrs. Mary Bowers, died at the home of her son, E. D. Bowers, in this city, last Thursday, February 8, at the age of 82 years. On Saturday her remains were taken to Clay Center, her former home and interred there with funeral ceremonies. She had been making her home with her son in Holton for the past few weeks. CARR, SARAH

Mrs. Sarah Carr, sister of Judge I. T. Price and mother of Mrs. A. D. Walker and Mrs. C. M. Rippeth, died at Washington City, last Saturday morning. Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Rippeth were present when their mother died. The funeral and interment was at Leesville, Ohio, the home of Mrs. Carr. DARLINGTON, J. W. MRS.

Mrs. J.W. Darlington died Tuesday morning at her home in Denison. The funeral services will be held this afternoon from the Methodist church at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Wood. Surviving Mrs. Darlington are her husband, Dr. Darlington, three sons, Morris, Charles and John and one daughter, Miss Grace Darlington.

The death of this excellent pioneer woman has cast a shadow over those who had her friendship and who knew her during the many years of her useful life. Her life had been one of service to her children and to her community and in her death words are inadequate to convey the real heart-felt sympathy that goes out to the children. DAVIS, MARGARET

Death of Mrs. Margaret Davis

As we go to press we learn of the death of Mrs. Margaret Davis which occurred this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Raymond Mickelson, living southwest of Lyndon. Mrs. Davis has been in poor health for some time and since returning from the hospital about five weeks ago had been cared for in the Mickelson home. She had made her home for a number of years south of Osage City with her son, Roscoe Davis and family. (The Journal Free Press, Wednesday, September 4, 1946, transcribed by Jim Laird)

DIMM, G. C. MRS.

Mrs. G.C. Dimm, 68 years old, died Thursday, February 15, at her home in Burlingame. Mrs. Dimm had been in poor health for four months, but was only confined to her bed the Sunday previous to her death. The body was brought overland to Holton, her old home, for burial and services were held from the Methodist church Friday afternoon conducted by her pastor, Rev. L.F. Waring. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ivan Sharp, Miss Alice Wolverton, C.W. Porterfield, and S.R. Scott. Burial was in Holton cemetery. A number of friends from Burlingame came for the funeral. HULME, GEO.

Mr. Geo. Hulme, aged 79 years, died last Friday very suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Deck. He had been a resident here for several years. He was born in England and at the age of 18 came to this country, first making his home in Illinois, where he was married to Miss Jane Hagle. To this union was born seven children, three of whom are still living. Mrs. Hulme died thirty-eight years ago. He died possessing the affection and esteem of all who knew him. The funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at 11 o'clock from the M. E. church by Rev. Vernon where a large number of people had gathered to pay their last respects. KAUFMAN, DAUGHTER

Funeral services for the little four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Kaufman, who died yesterday of scarlet fever, will be held in the Kaufman yard this afternoon at two o'clock.

KRANZ, SON

LEONARD, HOWARD C.

Howard C. Leonard Dead.

Howard C. Leonard, 42, vice president of the First National Bank of Girard and son of J.T. Leonard, president, died at his home in that city Friday of pneumonia, following an illness of three days. Mr. Leonard was well known throughout Kansas and Missouri having been a lumberman for years. He is survived by his parents, his widow, and two children, a son and a daughter.

Mr. Leonard is a brother-in-law of S.R. Moore and Misses Anna Pauline and Daise Moore, who left immediately for Girard. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Girard cemetery. (The Holton Signal, Thursday, February 8, 1923, transcribed by Jim Laird)

November 29, 1922, twins, a boy and a girl, came to gladden the hearts of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Linscott, but their stay was not to be long. The girl, Mary Blake Linscott, departed this life Friday morning, at 8:30, Dec. 23, 1922, and the boy, George Churchill Linscott followed Sunday morning at 3:35. The funeral was private, on account of the serious illness of John Jr., (bronchial pneumonia) and was held Sunday afternoon at 1;30 at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Linscott. Mrs. Frank Love died Sunday in Topeka. Funeral services were held at Whiting yesterday at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. Penick. Burial took place in the Whiting cemetery. Mrs. Love is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Mary Love-McGuckin, of Los Angeles, and her sister, Mrs. W.R. Canfield, of Holton, and Miss Catherine Rooney of Horton. REED, FRED L.

Fred Reed Dead.

Funeral services for Fred L. Reed, who died at his home in Oklahoma City, December 13, of appendicitis, were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from Penwell's chapel in Topeka. Burial was in Topeka cemetery. Mr. Reed lived in Holton several years ago and married a Holton girl, Cressie Becker. He left Topeka a year and half ago to become auditor of the Coline Oil Company of Oklahoma City, a subsidiary organization of the Santa Fe. He was connected with the department of the auditor of disbursements of the Santa Fe for fourteen years previous to leaving Topeka and was stationed at Chicago at one time. Wm. Rouse died Tuesday at a local hospital in Topeka. The body was brought to Holton yesterday afternoon and funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the Methodist church at 2 o'clock. TEER, ANNIE

Mrs. Annie Teer died at her home in Holton last Saturday evening of blood poisoning. Mrs. Teer was a devoted wife, a loving mother and an intelligent and cultured woman. (Topeka Weekly Capital, June 28, 1894, page 5)

TIETGEN, ANNA

Mrs. Anna Tietgen, 81, of Walnut, formerly of Netawaka, died Thursday in a Girard hospital.

She was born July 3, 1873, in Crete, Neb., and moved to the Netawaka community where she lived until January, when she moved to Walnut.

Surviving are four sons, Fred of Walnut, Melvin of near Topeka, Charles of 2832 Indiana and Harry of Tulsa, Ok.; two daughters, Mrs. Hoberd Hasselbring of Cissna Park, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Christensen of Topeka; two brothers, John Hengelfelt of Alexandria, S.D., and Will Hengelfelt of Yoder, Wyo.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Laura Gummerson of Minden Neb., and Mrs. Katherine Wise of Annheim, Calif.; three half-brothers, Bryan Hengelfelt of Houston, Tex., Louis Hengelfelt of Stromsberg, Neb., and Albert Hengelfelt of Gering, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 pm Saturday at the Mercer funeral home in Holton with burial in Netawaka cemetery. (Topeka State Journal, Friday, December 3, 1954, submitted by Don Hansen)
