Kingman County was organized in 1874. It was named for Samuel A. Kingman, Chief Justice of Kansas.
Kingman is the county seat; besides the cities listed at the left, the communities of Adams, Alameda, Basil, Calista, Cleveland, Georgia, Lansdowne, Mount Vernon, Skellyville and Warner lie within the boundaries of Kingman County.
