LA CYGNE, LINN COUNTY

A post, express and telegraph town on the Kansas City, Fort Scott and Gulf Railroad, 62 miles southwest of Kansas City. La Cygne is surrounded by a good agricultural country, besides having large coal fields in the immediate neighborhood. It is a banking town, has two weekly newspapers, and a population of about 1,500.
