Annie S. Austin, of Kansas, the Only One in the United States Annie S. Austin, who has recently been inaugurated mayor of Pleasanton, Kansas, was born of Puritan parents near Cleveland, Ohio, in the year 1840. She is a woman of strong ideas and, in fact, claims to be a radical in everything – religion, suffrage and prohibition included and her chief aim in life is to be foremost among women in obtaining the ballot for her sex. She is a State officer of the Independent Order of Good Templar, being G. S. J.T. of the Grand Lodge of Kansas, and was elected mayor of Pleasanton on the prohibition ticket.
