| FRANCES ELLEN SMITH
Frances Ellen Smith, Daughter of William and Martha Henry, was born at Parker, Linn County, Kas., on February 6, 1877 and departed this life on November 24, 1949 at Fort Scott, Kas., having reached the age of 72 years, 9 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage December 25, 1893 at Parker, Kas., to John Henry Smith who preceded her in death March 1, 1944. It was their privilege to spend 50 years of married life together. To this union eleven children were born, all of whom are living: Edgar William, Osawatomie; Roy Lee, Parker; Cloie May Wheeler, Fort Scott; Viola Mattie Hoskins, Tulsa, Okla.; Jessie Belle Morgan, Somerset, Kas.; Albert Dallas, Tulsa, Okla.; Ada Marie Day, Blue Mound, Kas.; Herbert John, Ringsted, Iowa; Floyd Raymond, Ottawa, Kas.; Edna B. Smith, Winfield, Kas.; and Irvin Frank, Los Angeles, Calif. Also left to mourn her passing are 32 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Smith made her home at Parker until the last ten years when she moved to Osawatomie. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Methodist Church in Parker. She always enjoyed attending the services of the church whenever her health permitted. She was a kind and loving mother, always ready to help others when they were in need. She was happy when she could lift the burdens from the hearts of others and make them happy. Her full and useful life was spent in untiring service to her family and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, at 2 p.m. in the Montayne Chapel, Rev. A.J. Gray of the First Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Olive Edwards and Miss Cleada Zumbrun accompanied by Miss Lola Zumbrun, sang "Abide With Me" and "Someday We'll Understand." The pallbearers were her six sons.
