| SAMUEL PRIEST
(The Blue Mound Sun, August 10, 1922, page 7 column 4) Samuel Priest, son of Samuel Priest, a veteran of the War of 1812, was born in Wayne county, Ohio, September 12, 1834. He was married in 1854 to Harriet F. Brown, who was born in Pennsylvania, March 28, 1836. Twelve children were born to them, John F, William A, Christeen, Martha A, Jane, Cintha L, Elmer, Marcus, Dora, Nellie, Kate A, and Maud. All but three of the children survive their father?s death. They came to Kansas in an early day. After some years they went to Colorado, they to Washington, then back to Colorado for the health of the wife, but after her death in Colorado, August 15th 1890, they returned to Linn county, where the deceased has resided ever since. He served as a soldier in the civil war from 1861 to 1865. He died at his home south of Blue Mound, Sunday, August 6th. Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon, by Rev. W. M. Randles, pastor of the Federated church. Interment was in the Blue Mound (Pleasant View) cemetery. Transcribed by Judy Hall |
