of Emporia; her father and stepmother, Meredith and Rose Heathman of Reading; one sister, Melinda Heathman of Reading;
two brothers, Micheal Heathman of Emporia and Terry Keith Heathman, both of Emporia; and her grandmother, Cordelia
Seleey of Reading; and her cousin and caretaker, Ivy Woods. Her grandparents, James and Evelyn Cornwell, died earlier.

News was received today by relatives of the death of Thomas Kibby, at the State Hospital at Osawatomie. Mr. Kibby's death was due to a physical weakness which began with a break-down fourteen years ago. Since that time he had been in the hospital. No particulars of the death were received. The body will be brought to Emporia, and the funeral probably will be held Sunday, but announcement will be made later.
Mr. Kibby was the son of Mrs. E. J. Kibby,
who lives six miles north of Emporia. He was 38 years old. He was born at Pontia, Ill., and came to Kansas with
his parents when 6 years old. Besides his mother, he leaves two brothers, Palmer of Kibby, of Chicago, and Charles,
of Emporia; and three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Strain, of Chicago; Mrs. Emma Matlock, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs.
Hattie Jennings, of Fort Scott, Kan.

Emporia, Kan., May 9---Mrs.
Lyman Beecher Kellogg, one of the first women admitted to the Kansas bar, and widely
known as a club woman, died at her home here last night. She was the daughter of Rev. D. P. Mitchell. During the
prohibitory war of 1889 she was assistant to her husband, then attorney general. She was a sister of Dr. C. B.
Mitchell of Chicago, formerly pastor of the Grand Avenue Methodist church of Kansas City, Mo. She was born in Coshocton,
Ohio, in 1850.

John Kurtz, who lived at 125 Exchange street
with his mother, died this morning of typoid fever. He was 27 years old. His relatives are waiting to hear from
a brother in Montana before making funeral arrangements but it is probable the funeral will be held from the Catholic
church not before the first of next week.

Ella Kain, aged 10, died Thursday morning
at the home of her parents two miles south of Olpe of consumption. The funeral was held at Olpe this morning.
