Obituaries

Mrs. Mary A. O'Meara died at the home of her son, Michael O'Meara, of Neosho Rapids,
yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock. Her death was caused by heart failure. She was born in England in 1844, and lived
there until she was 12 years old. She came to Kansas thirty-five years ago and had lived on a farm twelve miles
northeast of Emporia, until recently. Her husband died three years ago last March. She is survived by a daughter
and a son; Mrs. Anna Whitaker, of ten miles northeast of Emporia, and Michael O'Meara of Neosho Rapids. Mrs. O'Meara
has been a member of the Chatholic Church all her life and was a true Christian. The funeral will be held tomorrow
morning at 9:30 o'clock in the Catholic Church at Neosho Rapids. Rev. Father Simon will conduct the services. Interment
will be made in the Catholic Cemetery at Neosho Rapids.

MISS CLARA OEHMS DEAD
Miss Clara Oehms died Sunday at 4 o'clock
at St. Mary's hospital. Miss Oehms had been sick since Tuesday with a complication of peritonitis and appendicitis
and Saturday night an operation was performed. She was 35 years old, and had worked for the Higginses for a year
and a half, having come here from Eskridge. Dr. Higgins and Miss Hazel went to Excelsior Springs Tuesday and that
night Miss Oehms was taken sick. Saturday morning the Higginses were phoned for, and they came home in the afternoon.
Miss Oehms was taken to the hospital and was immediately operated on, but it was too late. Short services were
held from Hardcastle & Kenyon's chapel Tuesday morning and the interment was made in Maplewood cemetery.

Robert Owen, son of Ellis Owen, died at
the family home, two and one-half miles southeast of town Friday morning at 7:30 o'clock. He was born November
30, 1878, and had lived all his life on the farm on which he was born. The funeral was held at the Owen residence
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. Davis. Interment was made in the Upper Dry Creek cemetery.
