The marriage of James Petre to Miss Margaret Byrne was solemnized Wednesday, Sept. 1909, at St. Michael's Catholic church at Axtell, Kansas. The marriage ceremony was impressively preformed at 9 o'clock a. m. by Rev.. Father Taton in the presence of brilliant assembly of relative and friends. At the appointed time sweet strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march was heard and the bridal party consisting. of the bride and groom Miss Alice Byrne who attended the bride and John Byrne as best man, were inhered to the alter where they formed a pretty group.
The bride wore a white silk dress trimmed in Valenciennes lace and insertion and carried a shower -bouquet of bride's roses. The long bridal veil of white tulle was caught in her dark tresses by a wreath of rosebuds and smilax. The bride's maid wore a princess dress of- net over cream mulle. The groom was dressed in the usual black. At the conclusion of the ceremony the bridal party received congratulations, after which they repaired to the beautiful home of the bride's mother where a. sumptious wedding breakfast was served. The remainder of the day was pleasantly passed in social chat, vocal and instrumental music and viewing the presents which were numerous, beautiful and costly and which fully evidenced the high esteem in which this young couple are, held by their many friends The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Byrne, one of the pioneer families of Turkey Creek, Kansas. She is a charming young lady of many and varied accomplishments and has. won, by her amiable and lovable, disposition, the esteem, respect and love of a large circle of friends. The groom, who it the son of Mr. and Mrs. K. D. Petre, one of the pioneer families of Clear Creek, Kansas, is widely and popularly known as one of the model young men of Axtell. His name is a synonym of candor, integrity and honesty. Through his diligence and industry he has carved a competence sufficient to enable him. to furnish a pretty home for himself and bride in That long years of unclouded domestic happiness and prosperpersty may be the portion of Mr. and Mrs. James Petre is the wish of all who know .them.-The Axtell (Kansas.)

Martin Wilbur Sanderson, of Marysville, Kansas, and Weltha Myrtle Cole, of near Waneta, were married April 2, at the home of the bride. The happy couple left Thursday for their home in Marysville. The groom is county surveyor of Marshall county. (Sedan Lance, April 3, 1902, page 1)

Wedding Day Set - Mrs. Johyne D. Hemphill, has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Janita Hemphill above to Rollin G. Wells, son of C. A. Wells, Marysville, Kan. Dr. Frank C. Brown will perform the ceremony June 5 at the First Presbyterian Church chapel. Attendants will be Mrs. A. J. Hemphill Jr. and Mrs. Malvey E. Jameson, bridesmaids; Julie Moran, flower girl; Jack Wells of Lincoln, Neb., Mr. Wells' brother, best man; Gordon Suits, Glenn Durland and Pat Moran, ushers. Miss Hemphill is a graduate of North Dallas High School and NTAC. Her finance attended the University of Kansas. He served three and a half years in the army, two years of that time overseas.
