Note: This is one year in the life of Pearl
Kennedy, her parents and brothers and sisters. There were two Kennedy families that came to Coffeyville from Whiteside Co., IL in about 1888-90. Richard Yates (R. Y.) came first and was later Mayor of Coffeyville.
Charles H Kennedy followed a few years later. Both men had fairly
large families. My branch of the family is R. Y. Kennedy.
R. Y. and Charles H. were
double first cousins. Pearl is Charles's daughter. Charles
was a rural mail
carrier in Coffeyville for many years.

Papa went to town. Mama and I went to Mr

We washed. Uncle Geo's were down all day. Papa
and Mama went to Installation. Whist was to come out just Gene
came.
Wednesday, Jan 8:
Mama made Nona's dimity apron & Papa
plowed. I fixed old petticoat. Papa went to see Fred in
evening.
Thursday, Jan 9:
I ironed and Mama did kitchen work. We
balanced Papa's books in afternoon. Nona went down to Mr
Conner's. Neve C came here.
Friday, Jan 10:
Mama sewed on under clothing. Olive went home with Lola.
Saturday, Jan 11:
Mama, Papa, Nona and I went to town. Love
didn't come home. I saw Ona & Mrs Hotchkiss in town.
Sunday, Jan 12:
Uncle Jake's folks were down. Bob Akers was here. Olive came home
Monday, Jan 13:
Papa and Mama went to town and got bedstead.
Ora Kulms called and we was to school at recess. Nona went home
with Minnie.
Tuesday, Jan 14:
We washed. Aunt May brought Uncle Geo
down. Mama and Mrs Poff called to Mr Riggs. Olive and Lola
stayed all night to Mrs (Shanks?).
Wednesday, Jan 15:
Papa went to town. Mama commenced Loren's dress. Uncle Jake's stopped on their way home.
Thursday, Jan 16:
Papa went to town. Mama took dinner with Mrs
Etchen, Cline & Linkinfelter. Papa and Mama attended Col
Ham's lecture in town.
Friday, Jan 17:
Uncle Geo & Papa painted awhile but stopped. They cutted the hedge.
Saturday, Jan 18:
Papa and Forrest went to town. I went down to Orah Kulms. Roy painted smoke house.
Sunday, Jan 19:
Mr Geo Smith's folks were here for dinner. Ona
and Milo and three Poff girls spent evening here. We went to
Round Prairie Church.
Monday, Jan 20:
Papa went to town. Milo's started for
Nation. Turned cold in afternoon. I wrote to Sena &
Jennie.
Tuesday, Jan 21:
Lilie Ernest passed away 5:00 AM. Mama has
gone there & Papa to town. Milo's came back.
Warm. Stayed all night.
Wednesday, Jan 22:
Mama came home in morning. Papa, Mama & I went to funeral. Uncle Geo came down.
Thursday, Jan 23:
We washed. Papa & U Geo painted awhile, then snowed and they burnt the draw.

Papa turned hogs in new lot. We went to Mr Giltners funeral. Went to concert & got wet.

Papa took oats in. We put up grapes. Daisy Riggs was down.

Papa & Mama have gone to town. Mama & I went up to see Tetta Rizer.

Boys & Papa went to town with oats &
melons. Boys & I went in afternoon. Rained, we stopped

Boys went to Mr Cline's. Uncle Jake's were here. We went to Colored Meeting.

Papa took the two last loads of oats in. Olive
went down & Florence came up. Mama & I went to town.

Mama commenced her white waist. Black girls were here for dinner. Mr B. & Papa went to sale.
