"DEATH DID NOT PART HUSBAND AND WIFE LONG
Overcome by sorrow, W. B. Ehrman expired a few minutes after companion died. Work united them. Both typesetters
when they married, joint partners in business here.
Overcome by shock at the death of his wife who died about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, W. B. Ehrman 63 yrs. old,
died with heart failure a few minutes later. Mrs. Ehrman had been ill since Wednesday. Mr. Ehrman seemed in his
usual health yesterday. Mrs. Ehrman was 54 years of age.
Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Church at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with Rev. Frank E.
Ryerson, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Elmwood. The bodies will lie in state at the church from one o'clock
until time for service.
Miss Ada Willard was born January 13, 1878 at Columbus, Ohio. She married at Ottumwa, Iowa on June 30, 1892 to
W. B. Ehrman. Mr. Ehrman was born October 14, 1868 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He became interested in printing at
an early age and began as a typesetter at Eldora, IA. It was there he became acquainted with his wife who was also
a typesetter. Later, Mrs. Ehrman entered Bell Memorial Hospital at Kansas City to take a course in nurses training
and after her graduation was associated with the institution for a few years. Seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Ehrman
came to Chanute and purchased a grocery store on South Santa Fe and operated the business together.
Mr. Ehrman was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Mrs. Ehrman was a member of Sunflower Chapter, O.E.S. Surviving
Mr. and Mrs. Ehrman are one son, Harry H. Ehrman, four grandchildren, four sisters of Mr. Ehrman: Mrs. Nona Johnson,
Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Lulu Kline, Sioux City, IA., Mrs. Winnie Mattingly, Cherokee, IA., and Mrs. Jessie MacAulay,
Columbus, KS. Two nieces of Mr. Ehrman, Mrs. Helen McKinney and Mrs. Maurine Henderson and a nephew, M. J. MacAulay,
all of Columbus, also survive. John Leslie Henderson of Columbus will be here for the service tomorrow."

Mrs. Harry Ehrman - Mrs. Harry Ehrman, 74, 14th and Plummer, died Thursday at the Neosho Memorial Hospital following
an extended illness.
Bessie Ellen Duckworth was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Duckworth, April 2, 1893 at Chariton, Iowa. She came to
Kansas in 1912, locating at Coffeyville where she was married to Harry Ehrman March 27, 1917. They moved to Chanute
and located at 14th and Plummer where they have since resided.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home, two sons, Richard Ehrman, Lawrence; and Robert Ehrman, Garden Grove,
Calif., two daughters, Mrs. H. J. (Juanita) Alloway, Wichita, and Mrs. George (Billie) Allen, Jr., 1318 S. Plummer,
ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, a brother, Roy Duckworth, Coffeyville and one sister, Mrs. Roy Whitson,
Bartlesville and a niece and nephew also survive.
The funeral service will be at the Gibson-Koch Chapel, Saturday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. R. E. Owen of the Assembly
of God Church officiating. Bural will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family said those who wish may donate to the Memorial Fund at the Assembly of God Church, Roy Harp, treasurer.

HARRY HOYT EHRMAN
Ill the past year, Harry Hoyt Ehrman 84, 1320 So. Plummer, died today at Bethesda Nursing Center.
A locomotive engineer, he retired May 26, 1961 after 45 years service with the Santa Fe Railway. He moved to Chanute
in 1917. He was a member of the First Assemby of God Church.
Born in Iowa, he was married March 27, 1917 to Bessie E. Duckworth who died July 14, 1967. He was married in Chanute
Oct. 3, 1967 to Audrey Groulx, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Richard, Lawrence, Ks.; Robert, Garden Grove Calif., two daughters, Mrs. H. J.
(Juanita) Alloway, Derby, Ks.; Mrs. George (Billie) Allen, 1318 S. Plummer, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson-Koch Chapel with the Rev. Gordon Norris and the Rev. Marshall
I. J. Lackrone officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Orel L. Braschler
The funeral was today in Nevada, Mo., for a former Chanute resident, Orel L. Braschler, 69, who died unexpectedly
of an apparent heart attack Friday at his home in Nevada, Mo.
The funeral was at the Ferry Funeral Home. Interment was in Nevada.
He and his wife, Edith Just Braschler, who died in October, were Chanute High School graduates in the 1920s. He
owned a dry cleaning and laundry establishment in Nevada.
Survivors include two sisters.

Humboldt - A former Humboldt resident, Steven K. Emery, 17, Louisville, Ky., was killed in an automobile accident
in Louisville Saturday.
He moved to Humboldt from Lawrence, where he was born.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip A. Emery, Louisville; one brother, David, of the home; grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles K. Bayne, Louisville, Mrs. W. D. Emery, Iola.
Graveside rites will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Achor officiating. The
family will receive friends all day Tuesday at Price-Stanley Funeral Home.

Josiah "Joe" Fowler
Moran - Josiah "Joe" Fowler, 77, born in Rushville, Mo., died unexpectedly at his home Friday.
Cause of death has not been determined.
District commander of 5B World War Barracks, he was elected senior vice commander of the State World War I Department
at the state convention this month. A veteran of World War I, serving in the Coast Artillery, he was a member of
World War I Barracks 162, Moran, and La Harpe Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as Moran Ruritan and Marmaton Masonic
Lodge 245.
He was civil service personnel director for the city of River Rouge, Mich., where he lived 31 years, moving to
Moran in 1961.
He was married Dec. 8, 1921 in Iola to Lola Veneta Boman, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Dora
Parker, River Rouge, Mich.; one grandson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kunkel-Ralston-Hutton Chapel, Moran, with the Rev. Jean Minnich officiating.
Burial will be in Moran Cemetery.

Cecile Essary - The funeral was today for a former resident of R. 1, Cecile Essary, 76, who died Friday at Medical
Lodge in Pittsburg.
The Rev. B. W. Forehand, Pittsburg, officiated at the service at Johnson Chapel. Interment was in Memorial Park
Cemetery.
She lived in Pittsburg 17 months. Born in Stone County, Mo., she moved to Chanute area in 1918 and was employed
at the former Chanute broom factory 25 years. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.
She was married in 1920 in Iola to Alfred F. "Mose" Essary who died Jan. 6, 1954.
Survivors include two sisters, Vacie F. Ogle, Benedict, Arnice Johnson, Pittsburg.

After an extended illness, Juanita Mendez, 89, 204 W. Mulberry, died Saturday at Westview Nursing Home.
Born in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, she lived in the Chanute area since 1918. She was a member of the Baptist
Church.
In 1903 she married in Mexico to Felix Mendez, who died Dec. 12, 1962.
Survivors include a niece, Frances Gonzales, 1101 N. Forest; a daughter-in-law, Opal Mendez, 1105 N. Lee; four
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Chapel with the Rev. Marshall Davison officiating. Interment
will be be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Albert A. Skinner
Hospitalized Saturday, Albert A. Skinner, 71, Colonial Acres Nursing Home, died Sunday at Neosho Memorial Hospital.
He was ill seven years. He was retired from employment with the Santa Fe Railway and the stock yards. He moved
to Chanute from Kansas City in 1971.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kansas City, Kan. Born in Hamilton, Mo., he was a veteran of World War
I.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gibson-Koch Chapel.

A lifetime resident of the Chanute area, Althea M. York, 93, 13 S. Wilson, died Saturday at Westview Nursing Home.
Born near Benedict, she was the oldest member of the High Prairie United Methodist Church.
She was married Sept. 9, 1903 in Wilson County to John T. York who died Feb. 1, 1960.
Survivors include two sons, Otho, Buffalo; Raymond, 402 N. Forest, a daughter, Mrs. Jesse (Clara) Olson, Altoona;
four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, a sister, Lillian Criswell, Omaha, Neb.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at High Prairie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Detwiler
officiating. Burial will be in High Prairie Cemetery under direction of Gibson-Koch Chapel.
A memorial in York's name has been established at the High Prairie church.

Wichita - George J. Allen, 59, 1318 So. Plummer, died here Friday at Wesley Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born March 9 1925 in Chanute, the son of George and Alta Jane Moran Allen. A lifetime Chanute resident,
he married Mildred Ehrman July 3, 1943.
He was Shop Superintendent of the Kansas Department of Transportation where he had been employed the past 30 years.
Memberships: Elk Club.
Survivors: Wife of the home, one son, Greg, 1014 West 3rd, two daughters, Judy Howell, 901 So. Grant, Linda Metcalf,
Eldorado, Ark., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral 10:30 A.M. Monday at Living Word Assembly Church. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to the Heart
Fund may be left at the Gibson-Koch Funeral home.

Audrey E. Ehrman
Audrey E. Ehrman, 91, formerly of 1320 S. Plummer, died Monday, Nov. 7 at Pinecrest Nursing home where she had
resided six months. She had been in failing health for 10 years and seriously ill the past two years.
The daughter of John and Elizabeth Elder Williams, she was Born Feb. 9, 1897 at Mammouth Springs, Ark. In 1913
she married Earl B. Groulx in Mammouth Springs. He preceded her in death June 1, 1960. She married Harry Ehrman
Oct. 3, 1967 in Chanute. He died May 23, 1977.
A homemaker residing in Chanute since 1965, she was a member of Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include three nieces, Iva Lovell, Kansas City, Mo., Grace Drake, 531 N. Central and Florence Keller,
Humboldt, a nephew, Harold Williams, Humboldt, two stepsons, Richard Ehrman, Lawrence and Robert Ehrman, Garden
Grove, Calif.; and two step daughters, Juanita Alloway, Derby and Mildred Allen, Chanute.
Service is scheduled 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God, Humboldt, the Rev. Frank Alexander officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt. Gibson-Koch Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Mae Duckworth Whitson, 89, died Saturday, Ag 5, 1995 at Tulsa, Okla.
Survivors are nieces and nephew, one of whom is Mrs. Billie Allen of Chanute and great nieces and nephews. Her
husband, Roy Ellis Whitson, died in 1993 and a brother and a sister also preceded her in death.
Born at Chariton, Iowa Oct. 9, 1905, daughter of Earnest A. and Mary Belle Abell Duckworth, she moved with family
members to Louisiana and Kansas, graduated from Coffeyville High School in 1926 and moved to Bartlesville, Okla.
in 1928, where she lived until moving to Owasso after her husband's death. She began a life-long secretarial career
with Phillips Petroleum, then was employed by the Bureau of Mines 27 years before retiring in 1973.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, the Rev. Charles McCarthy officiating.
Arnold Moore Funeral Service, Bartlesville, has charge of arrangements. Friends may call there until prior to the
service.
A memorial has been established with the Bible Church in Bartlesville.

Mildred E. "Billie" Allen, 84, of Chanute, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Neosho Memorial
Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
She was born on March 25, 1923 in Chanute, the daughter of Harry and Bessie (Duckworth) Ehrman. She grew up and
attended public schools in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School.
Billie was united in marriage to George "Junior" Allen Jr. on July 3, 1943 in Chanute. He preceded her
in death in 1986.
Billie was a retired Secretary working for KDOT, and she also worked part-time at the Music Shop.
She is survived by three children, Judy Howell of Chanute, Linda Metcalf of El Dorado, AR and Greg Allen of Chanute;
seven grandchildren; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Alloway of Wichita; and
a brother, Robert Ehrman of Owasso, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Junior.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 9, 2007.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas.
