FREEMAN, LLOYD

WAKEENEY - Lloyd Freeman, 80, died April 3, 2005, Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita.

He was born March 14, 1925, at Hutchinson, the son of LeRoy and Mary Grayson Freeman. He was a 1943 graduate of Hays High School, Hays. He was owner and operator of a Standard Oil truck stop, until his retirement.

He belonged to First United Methodist Church, American Legion Moore Post No. 197, Randall Reid Veteran of Foreign of Wars Post No. 3449, all of WaKeeney, and the barbershop chorus at Hays. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

On March 7, 1948, he married Rosa Lee McMurry at Greensburg. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Ron, Don and Alan; two daughters, Karen and Chris; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fay; a sister, Thelma Crooker; and a grandson.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, WaKeeney, with the Rev. Randy Jellison-Knock presiding. The family will receive friends after the service Tuesday at the church. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery, Hutchinson.

GEORGE, HARRIET

OLATHE - Harriet George, 76, died Oct. 24, 2005, at Aberdeen Village, Olathe.

She was born April 15, 1929, in Greensburg, the daughter of William Lynn and Rhuy K. Williams McMurry. She attended Mullinville schools and Colorado Women's College in Denver.

She belonged to First United Methodist Church, FYI Club, Kiowa County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Star of Hope Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Greensburg.

On Aug. 21, 1948, she married Simmie W. George in Greensburg. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, two daughters; a brother, Bill McMurry, Greensburg; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery, near Hutchinson, with the Rev. Butch Lambert presiding. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Alan Freeman in Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to United Methodist Church of Greensburg,the American Cancer Society or to the Fairview Cemetery Trust.

Cremation Society of Kansas and Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Kremlin, Okla., the daughter of James A. and Stella Mabel Brown Herbison. She graduated from Kremlin (Okla.) High School. She was a homemaker.

She married Roy A. Lawrence in Arizona. He died June 17, 1975.

Survivors include: a sister, JoAnn Lee, Lawton, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery, Elmer, with Wayne Jackson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

MOCK, MARION LELAND "SHORTY"

Marion Leland "Shorty" Mock, 80, a loving husband and father, died Aug. 20, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital ICU. He was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Doniphan, Mo., to Ivor Leland and Jannie Stubblefield Mock.

He was a resident of Hutchinson. He attended Cross Roads, Mo. schools. He was a graduate of Iola High School, Iola. He retired as tester at Cessna Hydraulics in 1990. He managed Phillips 66. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.

On June 10, 1950, he married Geraldine Ann English in Iola. They celebrated their 58th anniversary this summer. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Leland E., South Hutchinson, Mark W., Hutchinson; daughters, Joyce Mock, Hutchinson, Connie J. Clizer, Springdale, Ark.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with the Pastor Harold Nelson presiding. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Elmer. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. WAINNER, LELA MARIE

SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Lela Marie Wainner, 100, died June 22, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born March 3, 1907, in Siloam Springs, Ark., the daughter of Jonathan Franklin and Julia Frances Arnold Henson. She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1925, attended Sterling College, and received her teaching certificate; she earned her LPN in 1960 in Carlsbad, N.M. She came to Nickerson in 1920, from Missouri, moving to Carlsbad, N.M., in 1950, and returning to Hutchinson in 1980. She was an elementary school teacher in Reno County, had a private kindergarten in Carlsbad, N.M., and was an LPN in Carlsbad, N.M.

She belonged to Cornerstone Baptist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Carlsbad, N.M.

On March 9, 1928, she married Harry T. Wainner in Nickerson. He died June 2, 1984.

Survivors include: three sons, Gary, Carlsbad, N.M., James, Hutchinson, and Norman, Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Anita Wainner, Hutchinson; special friends, Bob and June Winslow, and Geraldine Wise; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, David; three brothers; and four sisters.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Wedel presiding.
