RUEBEN BANGERT 1914 - 1967

Son of Henry and Mollie (Hettinger) Bangert, was born April 29, 1914, at the family farm home 7 miles south of Russell. His death occurred on April 11, 1967 in a tragic traffic mishap on 281 Highway just west of his home and the place of his birth. His age was 52 years, 11 months and 13 days.

A lifetime resident of Russell County, he was baptized September 20, 1914 in the former Methodist Church near their home. He attended the former East Kennebeck rural school, and grew to manhood in this farming community. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Bender Hill on May 27, 1939, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Strecker. There were three sons born to this union, all of whom survive him. Most of his adult years were spent in farming and for the past 5 years, he also served as custodian of the Grant School.

A devoted father and husband, a gracious neighbor, and friend, his many acts, and deeds can best be treasured and cherished by his wife Helen of the home, his 3 sons; Larry of Denver, Colo.; Dennis of Russell; and Allen of the home. Also his mother, Mrs. Mollie Bangert; brothers; John, Ed, and William, all of Russell; Emanuel of Denver, Colo; one sister; Mrs Lydia Vaughn, Chanutte, Kansas; one, half sister, Mrs. Mary Faxon, San Juan Bautista, Calif; 2 grandchildren, other near relatives and many friends. GEORGE BATT 1921-1989

George H, Batt died Friday, Dec 22, [1989] in Washakie Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 68. He was born Nov. 26, 1921 in Worland, a son of John and Elizabeth (Michel) Batt. He was raised in Worland and attended schools here. He farmed for several years before going to work as a ditch rider for the Bluff Canal Co., where he was employed for 17 years. He worked in the winter time for Roncco Coal Co. and for Holly Sugar. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Chruch in Worland. His hobbies included making wind chimes, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of Worland; two sons, Larry G. and H. Dean of Worland ; four sisters, Elizabeth Busch; Mrs. Paul (Lydia) Schneider, and Mrs. Adam (Frieda) Schneider of Worland ; and Mollie Wiemaster of Montcello, MO; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Mary Dellos, and Katherine Busch.

The service was held Tuesday in the Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim Jantos officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland. Veila Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Memorial may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in Worland. (Worland, WY, Dec 23, 1989)

JOHN CHRISTIAN BATT 1916-1987

John Batt, 71, of Missoula, died of natural causes Tuesday, Nov 17, 1987 at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

He was born June 13, 1916, in Windsor, Colo., to Chris and Mary E. Batt. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 when he received an honorable discharge.

On April 27, 1946, he married Florence A. Lackey in Seattle, [wa].

Mr. Batt was employed at a local lumber mill until his retirement in 1978. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the VFW.

Survivors include four sons; John C. Mark, and Randy Batt, Huson; a daughter, Cathy Knoll, Missoula; three brothers, Herb Batt in Alaska, and Elmer and Harold Batt, both of Seattle, three sisters; Mary Noland of Hamilton, Montana, and Kathryn Batt, and Susie MacDonald, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; and 14 grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be noon Saturday at the VFW Hall, 3245 W. Main St.. Cremation and burial arrangements are by Squire Simmons & Carr Funeral Hiome. (Missoulian, Missoula, MT, Nov 17, 1987)

JOHN GEORGE BOTT [BATT] 1908-1953

GEORGE J. BOTT (BATT) , CROOK FARMER, DIES SUDDENLY

Crook farmer George J. Bott, Jr. 44, died suddenly at a local hospital early Thursday morning following a heart attack. Funeral services, to be handled by the A .D. Jackson and Son Mortuary of Sterling, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 27 from the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Sidney, Neb. Bott (Batt) is survived by his widow Eva Bott, and seven children, Dorothea, Wayne; Edward; Delores; Donna; Karen; and Garey, all of Crook; two brothers; Jake Bott of Seattle, Wash., and Herman Bott of Sidney, Neb., and three sisters; Mrs. Martha Schnell, Potter, Neb.; Miss Bertha Bott, Sidney; and Mrs. Ohela [Ohrla] Zoeteman, Powell, Wyo. George Bott, Jr., was born at Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 11, 1908. He moved with his parents to Scottsbluff, Neb., as a child, and moved to Sidney in 1940. KAREN ELIZABETH (BATT) DEMAND 1944-2007

Karen E. Demand, age 62, passed away on Friday April 13, 2007. She was born on March 15, 1944 in Sidney, NE to George Batt and Eva (Fertig) Batt. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband Sylvan "Ray" Demand of San Antonio; sisters; Delores Kautz and her husband George of Temple, TX; Donna Wright and her husband Jim of Westminster, CO; Dorthea Batt of Gering, NE; brothers;, Wayne Batt and his wife Betty of Mitchell, NE, Ed Batt and his wife Carol of Scottsbluff, NE, Gary Batt and his wife Nancy of Gering, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East (inside between Stone Oak Parkway and Hwy 281). The service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark D. Barz officiating. The interment with military honors will follow at Ft. KATHERINE (BATT) STEINMETZ - HARDT 1881-1938

HEART ATTACK CLAIMS WOMAN - Mrs. Katherine Hardt Dies at Billings Bench Home--A brief illness due to a heart attack proved fatal early Monday to Mrs. Katherine Hardt, 57, resident of Yellowstone County for th last 33 years. She died at her home on the Billings ranch three miles northeast of this city.

Born in Oleschonr (Oleschna), Russia, July 12, 1881. She was married there to Chris Steinmetz in 1902. They came to the United States in 1905, first settling near Laurel., Mr. Steinmetz died there in 1906., She was married to George [John] Hardt at Laurel, March 7, 1907. She was a member of the German Congregational Church .

Surviving besides the widower are two sons Chris Steinmetz of Bridger, and Dave Steinmetz of Dawson, Minn., and a daughter Mrs. George J. Hart of Billings by the first marriage; two sons and two daughters, Phillip Hardt, George Hardt , Katherine Hardt, and Hulda Hardt all of Billings. (The Billings Gazette, Billings, MT, Tues. KATHARINA (BATT) WEBER (1883-1969)

Mrs. Sander Weber died early Sunday at the home of a son, Dan, in rural Raymond. She would have celebrated her 88th birthday today, Monday. The funeral will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yale, with the Rev. David Ernst officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Albert Mass; ElRoy Mass, Mike Ulrich; Earl Tyrrel; Mark Davis; and Alfred Muslof.

Mrs. Weber was born Katharina Batt, Aug 18, 1883 in Germany inc. [Dietel (Oleschna), Russia]. She came to the United States at the age of 15 with a brother and sister to Lincoln, Neb. She lived there until her marriage to Sander Weber April 21, 1908, when she and her husband moved to Friend, Neb. They lived at Friend until 1915, and moved to Warden, Mont., where they resided until 1919?, when they moved to the Yale vicinity where she lived until two years ago, when she went to make her home with her son. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dan, rural Raymond; Linus, Richmond, KY.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother; Henry Batt, Baird, Neb. She was proceeded in death by her husband in 1958, one son, Howard, July 26, 1967, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.

KATHERINE (BATT) BATT 1897-1986

Mrs. Batt, 88, widow of David J. Batt, died Sunday. [Born Nov 26. 1897, Kautz, Russia]

Survivors include: sons Rev. Samuel, Columbus, Wisconsin, John B/D, Seattle; sister, Mrs. Stanley (Leona) Brown, Tacoma; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several neices and nephews.

KATHERINE (BATT) BUSCH 1905-1986

Katherine Busch died Monday at the North Big Horn Nursing Home in Lovell. She was 81. She was born on March 5, 1905 in Dittle [Dietel], Russia, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Michel) Batt. She came to the United States with her parents in 1911, first settling in Montana. The family moved to Worland in 1916 where she attended school. On Feb 28, 1926 she married David Busch in Worland, he died in January 1978. Following her marriage, Mrs. Busch lived with her husband on a farm north of Worland, before moving into town. She enjoy gardening and crocheting. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worland.

Mrs, Busch is survived by two sons, Harry Busch of Cummings; and Raymond Busch of Worland; by a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Runco, of Denver, Colo.; by a brother George Batt of Worland;, by four sisters, Elizabeth Busch, Mrs. Paul (Lydia) Schneider and Mrs. Adam (Frieda) Schneider, all of Worland; and Mrs. Molly Wienmaster of Centralia, MO; and by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Dellos.

Mrs. Walters died Monday [Nov 12, 1956] A native of [Dietel (Oleschna)], Russia, [born Jan 8, 1887], she came to the United States, and Lincoln when she was 14 years old. She was a member of Zion Congregational Church. Surviving are her husband, Henry H., sons, Dr. Henry W. of Minneapolis, Minn.; Harold of San Francisco, Calif.; and Ralph E. of Lincoln, brother; George Batt, of Sidney, Neb.; and one grandchild. LARRY DEAN BATT 1951-2006

Son of Robert and Alice (Ochs) Batt. [Born, Frb. 9, 1951. Great Bend, Kansas]. He married Carla Phillips on December 9, 1973, in Russell, [Kansas].

Survivors include his son, Tim Batt of Bushton; one daughter Laurie Ann MCQuade of Victoria; his mother, Alice Batt of Russell County; two brothers, Dale Batt of Russell County; Eugene Batt of Hoisington; two grandchildren; one step-granddaughter.
