Lieut. Herman J. Frankenberg, killed in the crash
of a United Airlines plane at Salt Lake City last night, had been on active duty only since February. He was 2?.
Frankenberg, a native of Wichita, received his commission in 1937 upon his graduation from the University of Wichita.
He was married last September 19 to Miss. Blanche Albers of Strong City.
Besides his widow, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Frankenberg, and two sisters and a brother,

Charles Garrison Drops Dead
Chas. Garrison, of Mt. Hope, who has been in the mercantile business in that town for about thirty years, dropped
dead in his store Saturday night from a heart attack.
Mr. Garrison was well known and respected in this part of the country. He leaves a wife and four grown children
to mourn his death.

Clearwater Man of 81 Accidentally Shoots Self with Rifle
Funeral services for William Coal Davis, 81, resident of Clearwater since 1897, will be held at the Christian church of Clearwater at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Ruby cemetery, with the Culbertson mortuary in charge.
Mr. Davis died in a Wichita hospital Friday of a gunshot wound suffered Thursday morning on his farm near Clearwater. A bullet from a .22 rifle, which he was cleaning, penetrated his abdomen. The shot was accidental, officers decided.
He came to Clearwater from Neligh, Neb., and was
a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Beulah E. Smith, 924 West Maple, a son, Vernon
Davis, 924 West Maple, and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Heskett, McCook, Neb., and Mrs. Martha Kinkel, 724 South Washington.

Clarence Haynes, 77, Well Known Kansas, Passes In Hospital Saturday
Clarence Haynes, 77, 219 North Elizabeth, a resident of Wichita for 30 years, died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born in Ohio and came to Kansas as a young man, engaging in farming most of his active life. He farmed many years near Sedgwick and since retiring took price in keeping his garden and yard on North Elizabeth in order.
Mr. Haynes never married. He was a member of the Maccabees lodge. He was a brother of the late Cooper Haynes, well known Wichitan, who died two years ago. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Pottenger, 240 South Fountain, Mrs. R. G. Griffiths, Gilman City, Mo., and Miss Gertie Haynes, Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services will be announced by the Gill
mortuary.
