Myron Child, age 84, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was an old settler and had been employed by the Santa Fe for about forty years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. May Heaton of Redmonds Beach, Cal., and Mrs. Dottie Strube of waterloo, Ia., a niece, Mrs. Minnie Hearndon, a daughter-in-law, Mr. John M. Child, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Charlotte Cates, all of Topeka, six grandchildren, Miss Julia Heaton, Redmonds Beach, Cal., Frank, Thelma and Ralph Edwards, of Waterloo, Ia., and Marie and Dorothy Child of Topeka. The funeral of Mrs. George M. Noble who died at a local hospital, Wednesday night will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the William Macferran home, 305 Greenwood avenue. Mrs. Noble was a resident of Topeka for many years, but since the death of her husband a few years ago she had made her home with her son, George Noble in Kansas City. She had been sick for about two weeks and was brought to Topeka Wednesday for medical treatment, but died soon after arriving here. Mrs. Noble was born in Frederickstown, O., and was before her marriage, Miss Eva Reed. She came to Topeka to reside immediately after her marriage, January 25, 1872 and had made her home here until the last few years. Dr. James P. Thons, well known pastor of Baptist churches in Kansas, died at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at a local hospital. After an operation performed several weeks ago the doctor was believed to be recovering up until a few days ago. Doctor Thons was 72 years old, and the father of Mrs. Robert Gordon wife of the pastor of the First Baptist Church of this city. For seventeen years Doctor Thons held the pastorate of the Piligrim Temple in Chicago. For a number of years he was pastor of the Baptist Church at Emporia, Kan. He was well known among the church workers of the state, and has held many prominent pastorates in the state. Up to the time of his illness he had been filling the pulpits at Wamego and at Hoyt.
