GARDINER, CHARLES

Oskaloosa.--Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Presbyterian Church here for Charles Gardiner, 61, Oskaloosa, who died Sunday at a Lawrence hospital after a short illness.

He was born Oct. 28, 1904 at McLouth and spent most of this life in Jefferson County. He was employed 17 years in the geology department of the Kansas Highway Commission. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Oskaloosa.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Gardiner, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia O'Trimble, rural Oskaloosa; and two grandsons.

MADISON, ABBIE W.

Nortonville - Mrs. Abbie W. Madison, 86, Nortonville, died Wednesday afternoon at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital, Winchester. Mrs. Madison was born July 6, 1879, at Reamville. She lived in Colorado Springs, Colo., most of her life before moving to Nortonville about five years ago. She is a member of the Presbyterian EUB Church of Colorado Springs.

Survivors include three sons, lennie Madison, Colorado Springs, Fletcher Madison, Canon City, Colo., and Dr. Willard A. Madison, Nortonville and two sisters, Mrs. Josie Smith, Norton and Mrs. Frances Manchester, Cascade Locks, Ore.

McCARTY, JASPER N.

OLDS, WILLIAM ARTHUR

William Arthur Olds, 83, Holton, died Thursday morning in a local hospital.

Born at Havensville, Feb. 14, 1882, he was a retired road construction worker for Jackson County. He lived in Holton for the past 36 years.

He is survived by his wife, Flora, three daughters, Mrs. Louise Ireland, Elmonte, Calif., Mrs. Erma Riley, Holton and Mrs. Nina Martz, McClouth, two sons, George E., Holton and William H., Wickliffe, Ohio; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

RUSSELL, NETTIE MAY

Nettie May Russell, 94, Holton, died Thursday at a local nursing home, where she had lived for two months.

Miss Russell, fromerly of Denver, was born in Roseville, Ill., Aug. 28, 1871. She lived in Soldier, about 15 years before moving to Colorado in 1925.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge and the Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Ray C., Holton and Loren L., Denver, a sister, Mrs. J. H. Daniel, Fort Collins, Colo., two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

SCHOEPFLIN, MARIE (MAE)

Lyndon. - Mrs. Marie (Mae) Schoepflin, 77, died Sunday in her home here.

She was born Nov. 16, 1887 four miles west of Quenemo. She lived in Osage County 76 years. She was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church.

She was married to Harve Schoepflin Sept 30, 1910 at Lyndon.

Besides her husband, survivors include three sons, Erwin Schoepflin, Lyndon, Niel Schoepflin, Reseda, Calif., and Harve Schoepflin, Jr., Salina; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Gates, Lyndon; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church at Lyndon. Burial will be in the Danish Cemetery, 4 1/2 miles north of Melvern. Shaffer Mortuary at Lyndon is in charge of arrangements. (The Topeka Daily Capital, Monday, November 11, 1965, transcribed by Jim Laird)

Millard S. Stitt died yesterday afternoon at his home, 313 Monroe street. He is survived by a widow and four children. Mrs. C. R. Henderson of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. E. F. Bean, Bryon S. STODDARD, CARL J.

Muscotah - Carl J. Stoddard, 75, formerly of Muscotah, died Sunday at the Masonic Home at Wichita where he had lived since July 1864.

He was born August 2, 1890 at Muscotah in Atchison County and spent most of his life in Atchison County. He was employed by the Atchison County road and bridge department before he retired.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 116, AF&AM and Order of the Eastern Star, both at Muscotah and York Rite at Horton.

His wife, Mrs. Pearl Ellson Stoddard died in 1931.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Purcell, Route 5, Topeka and a sister, Mrs. Edna Rice, Horton.

TURVEY, IONA MAE

Burlingame - Mrs. Iona Mae Turvey, 67, Burlingame, died Wednesday morning in a Topeka hospital.

She was born May 7, 1898 in Burlingame and had been a resident here all her life. She was a member of the Federated Church.

She is survived by her husband Walter Turvey of the home; one daughter, Mrs. John Sutherland, Manhattan; two sisters, Elenor Foster, Claude, Tex., and Marjorie Bigola, Osage City, three brothers, Joe Foster, Miltonvale, Jim foster, Burlingame, and George Foster, Claude, Tex., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Burlingame Federated Church with burial in the Burlingame Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Cancer Society. VEALE, GENEVIEVE T.

Mrs. Veale Is Dead.

Member of One of the Oldest Topeka Families.

Mrs. Genevieve T. Veale died yesterday at her home, 827 Topeka avenue, from acute anaemia. Mrs. Veale was the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Tinkham, who were among the early settlers of Topeka, having come here in 1870, and were prominent and influential citizens up to the time of their death, a few years ago.

Mrs. Veale was educated at Bethany college, attending that school from her kindergarten days until she graduated in the class of 1878. Last winter she, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. W.S. Galloway, went to Tucson, Ariz., and later to Denver, Colo, hoping that a change of climate would be beneficial to her health, and only recently returned to Topeka.
