Sherman County Soddies

Sod Church by Mennonite Pioneers - submitted by La Vella Tomlinson

The first sod Church erected by Mennonite pioneers upon their arrival in Sherman County from Davis County, Iowa. Fred Funk was first Sunday School Superintendent, and drew plot for cemetery at rear of church.

Lela Mae McPherson, (my mother) was born here on 18 Feb 1922, Smoky Township, Sherman County, Kansas. Submitted by La Vella Tomlinson
