STAFFORD
Situated in the eastern part of the Stafford county which it derives its name, at the junction of A. T. & S. F. and D. M. & A. Railroads, 257 miles from the Missouri River. The country surrounding Stafford is adapted to the raising of corn, oats and wheat principally, and will eventually become one of the first grain-growing counties in the state. The town, comparatively new, has several large brick buildings and good school and church privileges. The present inhabitants number 1,200.

St. John
A thriving town on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, the county seat of Stafford County, in the midst of an agricultural and cattle country. The town is well supplied with all classes of business, has three banks, good schools, churches and hotels that are a credit to the place. The county has built a fine court-house at a cost of $35,000. The population is 1,500.
