GILBERT, EDWARD G. ~ MILLS, ANNA E.

Licensed to Marry - During the twenty-four hours ending at noon licenses were issued to: Edward G. Gilbert, 43 and Anna E. Mills, 30; both of Stafford County, Kas. (Kansas City Star, December 15, 1886, page 1)


GROVES,  BERLIN  ~  BOWEN,  LURA

Mr. Berlin Groves and Miss Lura Bowen were united in marriage last Sunday evening at eight o'clock at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Marie Campbell.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Geo. B. Richardson, pastor of the First Baptist Church.

The bride came here about a year abot from her home in Indiana to reside with her sister.  During her short stay among us she has made many friends.  The groom is the only son of Mrs. E. J. Westgate of Macksville, and is a brother of Mrs. Walter Steevers, of this city.  He is a fine young man.

The young couple expect to make their home in Macksville.  The News joins their friends in extending congratulations and in wishing for them a successul married life.

MAWHIRTER,  ROBERT  ~  DAVIS,  DESSIE

DAVIS--MAWHIRTER

Miss Dessie Davis and Mr. Robert Mawhirter, two of the highly respected young people of the northeast part of this township were married Sunday at one o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. G. W. Baker and only the immediate families were present.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett C. Davis and stands high in the community.  The groom is a son of Mrs. Jame Mawhirter.  He is a wide-awake young farmer who has the confidence and respect of his neighbors and acquaintances.  Mr. and Mrs. Mawhirter will reside in this township and have the very best wishes of their many friends.
