MULVANE - Elder, Paul E., passed away from this life on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 on his 87th birthday from injuries sustained in a tragic farming accident .
Paul was born in 1921 at Tuttle, Oklahoma the son of Thomas Sterling and Ivy (Givens) Elder. Paul graduated from Tuttle High School in 1938 and continued his education at Oklahoma State University, where he received his Master's Degree in Agronomy. While attending college he met his lovely wife to be as she was walking across the campus and they were joined in marriage after his return from the war. On September 10, 1942, Paul joined the United States Marine Corps during WWII and served in Palau. He served as a Second Lieutenant in artillery division until his honorable discharge as First Lieutenant on June 15, 1943. He continued serving his country in the Marine Reserves during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Captain on April 15, 1958. On December 22, 1945 he married Doris Louise Andrews at Stillwater, Oklahoma. Paul taught Vocational Agriculture in Central Oklahoma before purchasing his farm in Mulvane, Kansas. In 1962, he began his teaching career at South High School, where he taught Biology until his retirement in 1975. After his retirement he continued his passion for farming and ranching up until his death.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Doris L. Elder and six siblings,
Clifford, Ola, Alice, Alton, Tommy and Ivan. Survivors include: children, Kent (Lynn) Elder, Haysville, Shayla
Elder, Wichita; grandchildren, Lisa Elder, Goddard, Christopher Elder, Blackwell, OK, First Class Petty Officer
Capri Cotherman, Norfolk, VA; brother, Jack Elder, Cushing, OK; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and special
friends particularly the Gene Farber Family and Lavern Lawless Family and many wonderful, caring neighbors. Visitation
1 to 8pm Friday, w/family present 5 - 7pm, at Senter-Smith Mortuary , 501 S.E. Louis Blvd., Mulvane; graveside

He was born April 1, 1933 at Big Timber, Montana, the son of Edward Veasey and Mabel Catherine (Crum) Harper. A
long time resident of Mulvane, he owned and operated Harper Trucking hauling cattle. He was also in the Air Force
for 25 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 136, Mulvane.
On Feb. 14, 1984, he married Darla Courtney, at Miami, Okla.
Preceded in death by parents, brother, Charles Harper, sister, Betty Kallen, and grandson, Brett Prier.

Kessinger, Paul E., 85, farmer, dairyman and stockman, died Tuesday, June 11,

Mr. Kessinger was a member of the Mulvane First Baptist Church, Mulvane Senior Citizens Center, Mulvane Saddle
Club, Mulvane Old Settlers Club and other agricultural pursuits. He was an avid lover of draft horses.
He married Eula Shaffer on April 29, 1944 in Mulvane. She died May 25, 1997.
He had no children, but Mickie Philpott was like a daughter and her daughter, Anna and son, Lane Sadler all of
Udall, were like grandchildren to Paul.
Preceded in death by parents, Clyde E. and Emma Rozella Myrtle (Schaper) Kessinger; wife, Eula; sisters, Belda
Cox and Muriel Sherman.
