A weeding that had taken place in Atwood on December 28 and kept secret until recently was revealed this week when Miss Erma McDaniel and Robert A. Ackerman joined Mr. and Mrs. Evans on their honeymoon trip to Colorado. Erma affectionately known to her friends as Sally, is the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. McDaniel and Bob, the son of Mrs. Ackerman-Glasscock. Both attended school in Brewster and have a host of friends to join with the Herald in wishing them a long and happy married life. Anna Irene Shirley and Reuben C. Anderson were married at Kanorado on July 24th according to announcement cards received by local friends this week. We do not know the young gentleman, but we can say that he has won a mighty fine young woman. Anna is a daughter of Dell Shirley. She is accomplished, especially as a trained nurse. Brachear--Garver.--At the residence of the brides brother, Voltaire, Kan, M.H. Brachear of Colby, Kansas and Etta A. Garver, of Penn. After the ceremony was over and the usual time spent in congratulations, the newly married couple and guests (about thirty in number) were invited to the Whitney House where they found supper awaiting them. After spending a very pleasant hour at the table they all retired to the Garver mansion where they spent the rest of the evening. All together it was a most delightful affair. The happy couple were the recipients of some very handsome presents.

Miss Garver was the first young lady in Voltaire as was Mr. Brachear one of the first young residents and they both have made many warm friends during their sojourn here, who deeply regret that Mr. Brachear's business calls him to Colby instead of Voltaire. We with them a long and happy life.

The first June wedding of interest to local people took place when Arthur J. Emshizer and Miss Grace E. Goff journed into Colorado June 4 to find the pathway to the altar of Hyem. Arthur is the youngest of the children of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Emahizer, and a world war veteran with service in France. The bride has been connected with the East Side Café for some time and has won many friends by her never-failing courtesy and good nature and high regard by her evident culture. They have not announced their plans for the future, but The Herald breaks a bottle of wine over the prow of their life's ship, thus joining many friends in wishing them a prosperous and happy voyage on the sea of matrimony. In that far eastern state, Ohio, a short time ago, the wedding chimes rang gaily out over the marriage of Miss Nellie McNiel of Cleveland, Ohio, to Mr. E.A. Hall of this city. Romance and the love that comes but once in a life time entered into this solemn, holy compact and peace and happiness must be their lot through life.

Mr. Hall is the well known cashier of the First National Bank of this city, and has been prominently indentified with every move for the advancement of Colby and the county for the past two years.

Mr. and Mrs. Hall arrived here on Friday last and will soon take up their residence in the elegant dwelling erected by Mr. Hall this summer.

HOWE, HENRY ~ SAMS, L. MRS.

The first wedding in Thomas county occurred at Colby on New Year's eve. Mr. Henry Howe, of Ashland, Neb., led Mrs. L. Sams, of this county to the altar.

The wedding party came to town early on Thursday, but not finding Judge Lacey in town, concluded to go to Oberlin the following day and have the ceremony performed there. This became known, and our liberal citizens contributed and sent a messenger for the Judge. The couple agreed to be married publicly at one of the dances in town. Yocum's dance was selected.

The Judge did not get to town until about half past tne. The bridal party were escorted to the hall a half an hour later, where Judge Lacey performed the ceremony in a neat and impressive manner. Congratulations then poured in upon the couple, after which repasts were served at the Windsor and Commerical Hotels. The couple received many presents from the citizens of Colby, as marks of esteem in which they were held.

The bride is a blushing burnette of 260 pounds weight by Howe's stand and scales, while the bridegroom lifts the beam at 110. May they love through thick and thin. (The Thomas County Cat, Thursday, January 7, 1886, transcribed by Jim Laird)

Just at the close of the ceremony the band arrived on the scene and serenaded the newly made husband and wife. Local friends are in receipt of announcements of the marriage of Miss Mildred Singleton and Edward P. Sykes at Topeka, Kansas, on May 27th. They will be at home to their friends at Brewster after June 9th.

The bride is a former instructor in the Brewster high school. She is in every way a splendid young woman and made many friends here will be happy in welcoming her back in the community.

Mr. Sykes is a prosperous and industrious young farmer whose place is a few miles north of town. He, too, is quite popular and is known among his friends as "Happy." WARNER, MERVIN ~ LONG, MARY

The home of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Warner west of Brewster was the scene of a quiet home wedding Monday evening when their son, Mervin and Mary Long of Goodland were united in Goodland, Rev. Enos Wonder officiating.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Dendurent of Goodland and stands high in the esteem of all who know her. Merwin is a scion of one of the most highly regarded families of this communities and is a steady industrious young man. The young people have purchased a dwelling in Goodland where they will make their home.

Mr. Williams is one of our prosperous merchants of this place, and his estimable wife is well known in Brewster, being a sister of Mrs. S.A. Donelson, formerly of this place.
