ROBINSON, GEORGE

Mr. George Robinson, age 57, died at his home just west of Sedan Friday night about 11 o'clock. The funeral was held Saturday 4 p.m. conducted by Rev. Chase. Mr. Robinson and wife located here about two years ago, having come from Wallace County in western Kansas. Mr. Robinson was at one time a county commissioner of Wallace County. They were nice old people but not in very easy circumstances. Mrs. Robinson last year worked at the hotels and was a splendid worker, but her health gave way and Mr. Robinson started out and finally secured work cooking on a ranch in the Territory as he was hardly able to do hard manual work. They were getting along all right till he was brought home sick with malarial fever, from which two weeks later he died. A daughter-in-law came to help them a few days before he died and the day he died his son also arrived. The old couple bought a little place just west of town which used to belong to Mr. A. C. Wade. The sympathy of the community goes out to the poor sorrowing lady in her bereavement. (Sedan Lane, August 6, 1896, page 3)
