Zelia Alberta McWorter Ewing
Zelia was a descendant of "Free Frank" McWorter - a slave who bought his freedom in Kentucky and traveled to Pike County Illinois where he created the town of New Philadelphia in 1836. Ewing lived in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and actively promoted the history of her famous ancestor.   Read the family records on our Pike County, IL site.
