JAMES G. HART

Is the son of James M.  and Dolly ( Marsh) Hart. He was born July 5 1849 in Henry County,Tennessee, and was brought when a year old to Calloway County, Kentucky by his parents. He was reared on a farm and received what education was afforded by common schools. At twenty years of age he began the study of medicine under the instruction of Dr. E B. Curd of Calloway County, and a year later attended the Eclectic Medical Institute. Graduated in 1873 from an Ohio Institution. Returning to Calloway County he began the practice of his profession , locating in the town of Murray in 1880, and rapidly attained a leading postion, enjoying an extensive lucrative practice, as well as the esteem of the community. Educational matters receive from him a hearty support, as well as the temperance cause. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, and with his wife a member of the Christian Church. He married May 15 1873 to Miss Sarah E. Thompson daughter of Abraham Thompson of Calloway County. This union was blessed with four children, Abraham B. Hart, Pocahontas Hart, Prince A. Hart, and Fannie Hart.
