ROBERT BRUCE HOLLAND

Was born 12-Aug-1853. His father William Marion Holland is a native of Robertson County, Tennessee, and was born 19-Apr-1819. He has been engaged mostly in farming and mercautile pursuits. He came to Calloway County with his parents when thirteen years of age, and has since been engaged in business, principally in the county. His wife who was Miss Martha Jane Miller, died 01-Jul-1882. they were parents of twelve children, of whom Robert Bruce was the eighth. He was reared on a farm and obtained a good schooling, 23-Dec-1882 he married Miss Mattie L. Hay, of Calloway County, and began in life for himself as a farmer. He was soon after elected constable, and served as deputy sheriff during the years 1879-1880. In August of the latter year he was elected sheriff and two years later was re-elected. He has been a prompt and efficient officer, and enjoys the contidence of the community. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and Knights of Honor, and gives active support to the cause of prohibition. His family consists of three children, Lula Holland, Bertie Holland, and Myrtle Holland.
