Miss Clay Croxton delightfully entertained a few friends with a 6 o'clock dinner very informally, complimentary to Miss Bullivant of Boston, the guest of Miss Ethel Thomas. The table was exquisitely appointed and the dinner was served in cources, was delicious in every detail.

PERSONAL AND LOCAL NEWS
Mr. J. B. Phipps, prominent attorney of West Liberty, was In town on legal business today and left at noon for Huntington, W. Va.    

Capt. J. Speed Smith, of Seattle,Wash. is in town for a few days for a visit to his sister, Mrs. J. M. Benton, having stopped over from a business trip to New York and Washington, enroute to his far Western home. Captain Smith is the Government immigration inspector at Seattle.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scott, who have been visiting here since Thanksgiving left this morning for Lexington to visit Rev Thomas C Ecton and family before returning to their home in Campbellsburg.   

Mrs. Sara Dudley Tracy will return Tuesday from a short stay with relatives in Paris.

T. C. Allen has returned to Huntington, W. Va, after a pleasant visit to her old home here.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Scott entertained at their home on the Ruckerville pike with a big family reunion dining on Sunday.

Mrs. T. C Allen and  Mrs. Cassie Gaines were guests of Mrs. Charles Strother Sunday evening for  a fish supper.

Messrs. J. C. Prewitt and Charles B. Strother were in Becknerville Sunday on Sunday school work

Prof, and Mrs. J. C. Lary attended the funeral of Mr. William Renick on Sunday.

Miss Emma Guy, teacher of the Vienna School, spent  from Friday until Monday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Guy

Mr. J. O. Cannon spent the holidays in Carlisle.

Mrs. W. P. Eckley and a daughter, Miss Carrie, of Lexington, spent Friday here.
