Daviess county Was formed from Ohio County. It was created on 14 Jan 1815 and named for Colonel Joseph Hamilton Daviess, the U.S. Attorney who prosecuted Aaron Burr
Owensboro is the seat of Daviess county, and was laid out in 1816 and named for Colonel Abraham Owen.
