James J. Smith

James J. Smith, 31 years old, and the son of Thomas Smith, of 330 Patterson Street, died suddenly Monday morning of heart failure. He is survived by five brothers, John, Luke, Thomas, Edward and Anthony, and four sisters, Margaret, Mary, Elizabeth and Catherine. The funeral will take place at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning from St. Pauls Church, Rev. Father Liebert deWaegenaere officiating. The interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery. James Thomas Cox

The body of little James Thomas Cox, 2 years old, who died Sunday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Minnie Cox, 300 Georgetown Street, was taken to Harrodsburg Monday morning for burial in the Harrodsburg Cemetery. Submitted by Barb Z.

Miss Bettie Honican

The funeral services of Miss Bettie Honican, who died Sunday afternoon at the residence of her brother, Mr. George Honican, seven miles from the city, on the old Frankfort pike, after an illness of several months, will take at the Lexington Cemetery this morning at 11 o'clock. W.D.Lancaster

The funeral services of Mr. William D. Lancaster, who died at his residence, 270 Clay Avenue, Sunday night at 10:30 o'clock in his 70th year, after a protected illness, will take place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, Rev. T.C. Ecton officiating. Mr. Lancaster was for a number of years foreman for C.D. Cunningham and was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Morris and Howard; two daughters, Miss Jennette Lancaster and Mrs. J.K. Sebastian; a brother, Mr. Levi B. Lancaster, and a sister, Mrs. Lucy A. Barkley. Dr. Richard Allen

News of the death of Dr. Richard Allen, a native of Lexington and related to many Fayette County and Kentucky families, in Independence Mo. Sunday, reached Lexington Monday. Dr. Allen was on a visit to his daughter. Dr. Allen was a son of Edward Allen, of Fayette County; was a graduate of Transylvania University and studied medicine in New York City. He went to Dallas, Texas when a young man and settled there building up a good practice. Dr. Allen was a nephew of Albert and John Allen and of Madison Johnson. He was a cousin of Mrs. John Curd and of James Lane Allen. The burial will be in Dallas. Submitted by Barb Z. --

Funeral services for A. W. Shearer, who died at St. Joseph's hospital Thursday afternoon will be held at the residence of his sister, Mrs. W. H. Biggerstaff, 327 Aylesford Place, this morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. B. C. Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington cemetery.  Submitted by Linda Dietz

Funeral services for John Rowland Young, 77 years old, who died at his home, 161 North Hanover avenue, Thursday, will be held in the Lexington cemetery chapel this afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev. T. C. Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot. The pallbearers will be Michael P. Harnett, George W. Muir, Thomas and James Bowman, Thomas Stewart and George B. Mrs. Jennie Catherwood Bean died last night at 7 o'clock at the home of her niece, Mrs. Andrew Mitchell Jr., 118 Desha Road. She was the daughter of John and mary Tatt Catherwood and was 83 years old. She had been in failing health for the past year. Mrs. Bean was prominent in the Daughters of the Confederacy and an active member of the Virginia Hanson Chapter at Winchestr. She is survived by two nieces, mrs. Albert Greenwald of Chicago, and Mrs. Mitchell of this city, and a nephew, Albert Catherwood, of San Francisco. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, the Rev. J. F. Savage officiating. Burial in Winchester cemetery.   Submitted by Linda Dietz
