James Woods departed this life 5-04-1897. He was 47 years and some days old. He was a member of the Catholic Church
and did not fear death. His suffering was great, but he endured it with patience. He realized from the first when he was taken
to his bed he would never be well again. Left wife, six girls and three boys.

E. H. Crawford and Mrs. M. C. Woods were united in marriage Sunday evening by Judge Elmore.
The newly married people are well known citizens of the west end and have many friends who offer congratulations.

Wednesday night about 8 oclock, while Misses Mattie, Hattie, and Carrie Woods were passing along the sidewalk at the corner
of the May Pants Co., three young men were sitting there and one of them came near causing Miss Mattie to get a heavy fall by throwing
a walking cane in front of her. Their stepfather, Lige Crawford, is endeavoring to find out the young mans name and says he will have
him prosecuted.

John W. Hobbs living one mile east of Obion on June 18 gave an elegant dinner to his many friends and relatives.
The table was all that the heart of a hungary person could wish and there were present 130 persons to enjoy it.

Death of Miss Mary Woods
Mary Woods died Saturday morning at 1:45 oclock of pneumonia. She was 13 years 10 months and 4 days of age and
a daughter of Mrs. M. C. Woods. Funeral services were conducted at St. James {this should have been St. Jeromes}
Catholic Church at Fancy Farm by Rev.
Father Haesley Sunday morning. Interment took place immediately afterward.

The little infant of John Woods died Tues. morning at 1:30 A M at the home of its grandmother , Mrs. M C Crawford.
The child was two months old

Mrs Malissie Crawford, wife of E. H. Crawford, died Sat. morning shortly before 6AM after a long illness of lung trouble.
She lacked 4 days of being 51 years old. and was a good Christian woman. She ahd lived in Mayfield most of her life and
at Fancy Farm at one time. She was a member of the Catholic Church and burial will be at St. Jerome. Besides a husband,
she is survived by eight children: Mrs. Prentice Chapman, Mrs. Dave McKendrick, Mrs. Callie Archer, Mrs. Ed Smith,
Miss Mattie Woods, John Woods, Elmer and Jodie Woods.

Mrs. Jamie Woods has filed suit in Circuit court against her husband, John Woods, for a divorce.
They were married in 1909 and seperated 4-06-1910, the plantiff says, on account of cruel treatment towards her.
About that time JOHN WOODS was convicted of a felony in Arkansas and sentenced to a term of years in the State Prison.
The couple have been living in Arkansas, but in April 1910 the plantiff says she returned to her people in Graves County.
She has one son, aged two years.

The corn popper of R. C. Watts caught fire Saturday afternoon while being operated by Elmer Woods, on the corner of Seventh and
Broadway, and the fire wagon was called out. The machine was almost wrecked by the flames, which were extinguished by Fire Chief
Baldree throwing a few buckets of water on it. There was much excitement for a few minutes and hundreds of people gathered about
the scene. The crowd quickly scattered when it was announced that a large tank of gasoline on the machine was likely to explode.

1916- Mayfield, Graves County, Kentucky
Mrs. Callie Archer formerly of Mayfield died Tuesday afternoon at her home in
Collinsville, Ill. The body will arrive this evening at 6:30 and be taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. Rose Walker. She leaves several brothers and sisters. She moved to Collinsville several years ago.
The body of Mrs. Noah Archer, who died Tuesday in Collinsville, ILL. arrived
Wednesday eve on the 6:20 train and was taken to Fancy Farm for burial.
