Edelen, James F. |
James F. Edelen, 78, of 3002 Sterling Court, Owensboro, died Friday, Nov. 8, 1991, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. He was born in Grayson County, was retired president of Kentucky Mirror and Plate Glass Co. and a member of the Catholic Church. He was a charter member of Windridge Country Club. His wife, Lucille Anderson Edelen, died Oct. 18, 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Beverly) Hawkins of Owensboro; a grandson, James T. Hawkins of Parker, Colo.; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Teresa Michaud of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Agnes Cornwell of Louisville. Services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. Entombment at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Raymer, John Clinton Sr. |
RAYMER John Clinton Sr. was born April 23, 1937 in Grayson
County Kentucky. He died on July 5, 2004 in Jacksonville, Florida. Survived by the love of his life "Sandy" for the past 45 years, his loving children and grandchildren. Jennifer Jewels (Steven), Stephanie Byrer, John C.RaymerJr (Maria)., Jeffrey D. Raymer (predeceased 1982), Julie Raymer, Shawn Raymer (Cherie). His ten grandchildren are Erin, Chad, Raychel, Blair, Chance, Abby, Tyler, Collin, Jesse, and Jeffrey. John was an avid fisherman, animal lover, Tampa Bay Buc and Jacksonville Jaguar fan. He was a master builder who constructed many beautiful homes in Louisville, Kentucky. He moved to Florida and began a new career in luxury pool building, although he never fully left his first love of building. His talents were many some included painting, drawing, sketching, and woodworking. He was a beloved " Paw Paw" to all his grandchildren and shared many memories with them. He loved the Lord Jesus and rededicated his life to him. He leaves precious memories for all who loved him, he will be greatly missed.

Franklin, H. C. "Doc" |
H.C. "Doc" Franklin, 89, of Bowling
Green, formerly of Lewisburg, died at 5:06 a.m. April 12, 2000, at his
home. The Grayson
County native was a retired Lewisburg High School agriculture teacher,
former owner of Franklin Candy Co. and Franklin Furniture Co., a former
director of the Kentucky State Fair board and Lewisburg Banking Co., and
a member of Lewisburg Methodist Church and Lewisburg Masonic Lodge No.
324. He was a son of the late Robert Harold Franklin and Nova Bell
Franklin. Funeral
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers
Lane chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Survivors
include his wife, Geneva McClure Franklin; two sons, Dr. Robert Franklin
and William Franklin, both of Bowling Green; a daughter, Ann Coker of
Russellville; a brother, Beryl Franklin of Clarkson; six grandchildren;
a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Davenport, Bowman "Bo" |
Bowman "Bo" Davenport, 76, died at
Britthaven Nursing Home. The Warren County native was a teacher,
administrator and coach in Grayson and Edmonson counties for 32 years.
He was a World War II Army Veteran, and a member of Christ Episcopal
Church. He was also owner and operator of Bo's Garden Center for 20
seasons. A graduate of Bowling Green High School and Western Kentucky
University. Bo coached Edmonson Co. Basketball team in the 1976 State
Championship. He was a lifetime member of the Kentucky High School
Coaches Association, having served as President from 1973-1974. He was
inducted into the K.H.S.A.A. Dawahares Hall of Fame in 1992. Bowling
Green High School hall of Honor in 1993 and the Kentucky Basketball
Coaches of the Year. The Lexington Herald and The Louisville W.A.V.E. Tv
Coach of the Year. He was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers
Association. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and a member of The
"W" Club at Western Kentucky University. He was preceded in
death by parents, Bowman E. Davenport and Margaret Love Davenport. He is
survived by his wife, Mary Frances Brown Davenport of Bowling Green,
Ky., sister-in-law, Annis Wigginton, husband Jim, of Bowling Green, Ky.,
two brothers-in-law, Tommy Brown, wife Catherine, of Scottsville, Ky.,
Mike Brown, wife, Joan also of Scottsville, Ky., four nieces, one great
nephew and several cousins.

Wilson, Clara |
Mrs. Clara Buttram Wilson, 67, of Route 3, Caneyville, died at her home on February 8. Born in Tennessee of March 31, 1899, she was the daughter of Thomas Buttram and Emma Tidwell. She was married to Collins Wilson who preceded her in death. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Pollock of Louisville, Mrs. Hickle of Miami, Fla. and Mrs. Geneva Robinson of Glasgow; two sons, Eugene Hodges and James Hodges both of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Codie Blackwell of Alabama and Mrs. James McCullum; one brother, Ted Buttram of Tennessee; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ellis Chapel, Caneyville, by Bro. Ed Dermitt with interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson County

Logsdon, Wilburn |
Wilburn Logsdon, 91, of Leitchfield, died October 5, 1992 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Logsdon was born April 30, 1901 in Grayson County, the son of the late Samuel and Tisha Willis Logsdon. His wife, Velena Butler Logsdon, survives. He was a farmer and a member of the Short Creek Lodge #744 F & AM and Broadway Baptist Church. Other survivors include: seven daughters, Ethel Sandadge of Louisville, Betty Milam, Ronella Sanders and Anita Schroerlucke, Carol Russell of Bowling Green, Nedra Foreman of Falls of Rough and Teresa Durant of North Carolina; seven sons, William, Winford, Charles Edward, Cleon and Donnie Logsdon, all of Falls of Rough, Larry Logsdon of Caneyville and Robert Logsdon of Leitchfield; and two sisters, Lizzie Fulkerson and Ida Mae Bell, both of Clarkson. Thirty-two grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by three children.

Whalin, Robert Dale |
Robert Dale Whalin, 62, of Leitchfield, died on Monday, October 21, 2002 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 31, 1940 in Bowling Green as the son of William Roger and Anna Mae Amos Whalin. He was an Army Vietnam Veteran and a retired tax preparer for Hammond Tax Service. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Hammond Whalin of Leitchfield; one daughter, Dianna Gale Schnell of Louisville; one brother, William Whalin of Louisville; two sisters, Ruth Jenson and Vickie Phillips both of Louisville; one stepbrother, Billy Whalin of Louisville; one stepsister, Linda Whalin of Louisville and one aunt, Jean Taylor also of Louisville. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Watson and Hunt Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.

Cook, John Henry
|
John Henry Cook, 69, of 508 Montgomery Ave., Owensboro, died
Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at his home. He was born in Grayson County and
was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and
retired as a labor worker from Kentucky Concrete Pipe Co. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Marjorie Board Cook;
two sons, Jonathan Cook of Philpot and Michael Cook of Owensboro; one
grandchild; his mother, Elizabeth Cook of Owensboro; four brothers,
Ike Cook of Owensboro, Clayton Cook of Lewisport, Floyd Harrison Cook
of Louisville and James Charles Cook of Las Vegas; a sister, Mildred
Renfrow of Whitesville; and several nephews and nieces.

Layman, Robert E.
|
Robert E. Layman, a former Central Kentucky banker and
insurance executive, died Saturday in Nashville. He was 85. Mr.
Layman was a former president of Central Bank & Trust Co.
and senior vice president of Kentucky Central Life Insurance Co.
in Lexington. He also was a former executive vice president of
National Bank & Trust Co. in Paris. He
was a former member of the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra board. Mr.
Layman was born in Millwood in Grayson County and grew up in
Owensboro. He was a former executive vice president of the Owensboro
Chamber of Commerce. Survivors
include his wife, Margaret Layman; four daughters, Brenda Dunford of
Anchorage, Linda Hunt of Paducah, Bonnie Hall of Lexington and Ann
Embry Layman of Nashville; a son, Robert S. Layman of Brentwood,
Tenn.; a stepson, Joseph V. Petro III of Lexington; a stepdaughter,
Jennifer Steck of New Orleans; a sister; five grandchildren; and three
step-grandchildren.
