Joshua Carter Perkins and Sarah Cooper were married September 17, 1840 in Washington Co. Tennesse. Their two oldest daughters, Hannah and Mary were born in Washington Co. Tennesse and by 1850 they were residing in Letcher Co. Kentucky where their daughter Highly was born. At some point in time after the Civil War they headed west and are listed in the 1870 census as living in Ramsey Township, Fayette Co. Illinois. They are listed in the 1880 Census as residing in Custer Co. Nebraska and eventually moved on to Loup County Nebraska where they lived the remainder of their lives.
