Desoto parish was formed from parts of Caddo and Natchitoches parishes. In the l820's communities began to develop. The first was Cow Pens and the second was Screamerville. In June 1843 the first police jury meets at Screamerville, settled by English speaking settlers and located about two miles west of present-day Grand Cane. Welcome to this De Soto Louisiana Genealogy Trails Website.

This is a new site and we hope to soon add data here that can help Louisiana researchers trace their family lines.

We need some help to do that though - volunteers to host these county websites. If you can make a basic webpage, and you have a desire to transcribe data for the free use of all researchers, we can use your talents!
Review our
Volunteer Information and email Kim.

In the meantime, join our mailing list to be kept apprised of updates to this website.
