Mary Jo Elvington Ritter, a resident of Kenner, Louisiana for 43 years, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Doctors Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana of complications from heart surgery. She was 72 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents B.E. and Bertha Lunsford Elvington of Lexington; their son Kenneth Ray Duke Elvington of Reagan and Troy Elvington of Scotts Hill. She leaves her husband of 47 years Ray R. Ritter; a niece Sandra Jean Moody Rodirgue of Hammond, Louisiana; two sisters Sylvia Moody Elvington of Madisonville, Louisiana and Ethel Revart of Lantana, Florida; and numerous family and friends in Lexington and New Orleans area. Mrs. Ritter started working as a waitress at the "City Cafe" as a teenager in Lexington and worked in that field in Tennessee and Louisiana for over 50 years. She loved her patrons and they loved her. She was an avid gardner and cook. She bred and raised various breeds of championship dogs over the years. Cremation will be handled by Muhleisen's Funeral Home in Kenner, Louisiana with a private burial in Lexington Cemetery the 22nd of August 2003. The family would like to thank everyone for their cards, letters and prayers. A special thanks to Pafford's Funeral Home and Griffin and Powell. May she rest in Peace and Love.
