Epidemics News

Fort Gibson, Nov. 20
The Natchez Board of Health has officially announced that those citizens, who have been compelled to leave their
homes on account of the late distressful epidemic, may with safety return. They recommend, however, a thorough
cleansing and ventilation of the houses, before they are occupied. It is truly gratifying to see the columns of
the Mississippian once more embellished with the advertisements of the merchant and the artisan. I see another
thing that pleases me – being a sure sign of general health. Three physicians advertise where they may be found.
How different from the times when, almost literally, the sick ministered to sick, and the grave could scarcely
obtain possession of the trophies of her victory. -- Correspondent.
