Raymond St. Pierre Lopez, 58 a resident of 704 S. Jahncke Street, was dead on arrival at St. Tammany Parish Hospital around 6:00 p.m. Monday following a heart attack suffered at his home. He was a radio operator at Troop L headquarters of the Louisiana State Police at Mandeville for the past 1 1/2 years, and prior to that owned and operated Lopez Freight Lines throughout the area. Funeral services were held at 10"00 a.m. Wednesday from St. Peter's Church, the Rev. Fr. Andrew Becnel officiating. Interment was in Garden of Pines mausoleum, with the Schoen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He was a native of Napoleonville, but a resident of Covington for 46 years. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Yvone S. Stroble Lopez; and three brothers, Leroy of Covington, Nicholas of Metairie and Charles Lopez of Baton Rouge. 18 Feb 1971

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday of last week for Nelson Fussell, 69, a resident of Route 4, Covington, who died at St. Tammany Parish Hospital at 9:05 p.m. the preceding Tuesday after a long illness. Mr. Fussell, a former employee of Central Louisiana Electric Company with 29 years experience as lineman and serviceman, retired in 1966. The Rev. John Rawlings officiated at last rites at New Zion Baptist Church, followed by interment in the New Zion Baptist Church. The Brown Funeral Home was in charge. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mae Ezell Fussell; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Joiner of Covington; two brothers, Emile Fussell of Covington and Founty Fussell of Folsom; a sister Mrs. Ed Jenkins of Franklinton and four grandchildren. 18 Feb 1971

 

Robert (Bob) Bourn, 75 a retired farmer residing on Ramsey Road, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Funeral services were held from Schoen Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev.. D. T. Kelly of Bogue Falaya Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Morgantown, Miss. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Bessie Strain Sharp, Mrs. Lucille Gottl, Mrs. Helen Lavergne and Mrs. Ola Mae Jenkins of Covington and Mrs. Sina Adkins of Biloxi, Miss.; five sons, Mason Bourn of Columbia, Miss., Jewell Bourn of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; Shelby Bourn of Chicago, Ill.; and Robert and Billy Bourn of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Molly Morgan; two brothers, Lacel and Forrest Bourn; 40 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 18 Feb 1971

 

Funeral services were held Thursday of last week for Mouton Bickham, former mayor of the Town of Franklinton and called by many the father of the booming dairy industry of this area. Last rites were at the Centennial Methodist Church, with interment following in the Ellis Cemetery. Mr. Bickham died at McGehee Clinic in Franklinton early Wednesday morning following several years of declining illness due to a heart condition. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Leatrice Brumfield Bickham, he is survived by a son, Gaylord Bickham, a sister, Mrs. Udine Bickham Jones, and his mother, Mrs. Lela Babington Bickham. 18 Feb 1971

 

Funeral services were held Friday of last week for Joseph Henry Blache, Sr., 91, father of Maurice P. Blache of Covington. Mr. Blache, a retired real estate broker in New Orleans, died Tuesady in Baton Rouge. He was buried in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans following requem mass at St. Raphael's Church. A native of Marseilles France, Mr. Blache spent most of his life in New Orleans. He retired from the real estate business four years ago, moved to Baton Rouge five months ago after the death of his wife, the former Marie Anne Pauline Lafargue. Mr. Blache was one of the 146 members of the Louisiana Constitutional Convention of 1921. He leaves a daughter, Sister Elise Blache, C.S. J.; six sons, Joseph Henry Blache, Jr., Clarence F. Blache, Gerald L. Blache, Edward J. Blache, Maurice P. Blache and Albert N. Blache; 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 18 Feb 1971

 

Mrs. Alex Butler, nee Irma Bissell, a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Covington for the past 12 years, died on Tuesday, Jan 31, 1961, at 4:45 o'clock. A.M., in her 68th year at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was the wife of the late Alex Butler of New Orleans. She is survived by a brother, Henry Bissell and two nephews, Wilfred Glockner of Covington, and Henry Ray Waldmann of New Iberia. She was the sister of the late Ruth Glockner and Ethel Waldmann. For many years she was an active member of St. Peter's Altar Society and member of the choir. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1961, at 9:45 A.M., from Shoen's Funeral Home, with requiem mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment was in Mandeville Cemetery. 3 Feb 1961

Died: SCHAFER - In Covington, on Monday Feb. 16, 1880, George Schafer, aged twenty-three years and six months. A native of New Orleans..21 Feb 1880
