Joseph
Abells
Funeral
services for Joseph Abells, 66, who died Saturday at his home
in Kilbourne, were conducted from the Kilbourne Baptist Church Sunday
afternoon at 2:30.
The
Rev. H.J. Taylor, pastor, officiated at the services and interment
was in the Kilbourne Cemetery under direction of Catron-Gay Funeral
Home.
He
is survived by his wife, Maude, and several nieces and nephews.

MRS. KATE ALLEY, 84 SUCCUMBS
PIONEER RESIDENT BURIED SATURDAY AFTERNOON
An
early settler of West Carroll and a member of one of the parish's
leading families, Mrs. Kate Alley, 84, succumbed Friday at Forest Hill,
in Rapides Parish. Funeral services were conducted and interment made
at the New Forest Cemetery Saturday afternoon, with many friends of the
deceased present to pay final respects to her memory. The Rev. Jack H.
Midyett, pastor of the Pioneer charge of the Methodist Church officiated
Mrs.
Alley had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Willis L. Ross and
Mr. Ross, at Pioneer. At the time of her death she was visiting a
grand-daughter, Mrs. Walter Cambell and Mr. Campbell.
A
former resident of "Old" Floyd, she was at one time
postmistress there.

SADIE LOCKARD PEACOCK ALMAND
Mrs.
Sadie Lockard Almand passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2004.
Graveside
services were held at 10 A.M. Friday April 30, at Forest
Park Cemetery with the Rev. Nick Davis, associate pastor of First
Baptist
Church, officiated.
Mrs
Almand (Peacock) taught English at Forest High School for over 40
years. She was born in Meridian, Ms., in 1906, and moved to Louisiana in
1910.

Lesley Anderson
Funeral
services for Wilbourne Lesley Anderson, age 86 years, were
held Wedensday, June 21, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel
in Oak Grove with Reverend Mike Howard officiating.
Intermemt
followed in Kilbourne Cemetery under the direction of
Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Wilbourne
Lesley Anderson died Monday, June 19, 2000 at West Carroll
Memorial Care Center in Oak Grove.
He
was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou Whitney and two
grandsons, Kerry Eugene Whitney and Elmer R. Anderson Jr..
Survivors
include his wife, Lennie Marie Anderson of Oak Grove; six
sons Elmer R. Anderson of Leland, Mississippi, Travis L. Anderson
of Jackson, Mississippi, Wilbourne Lee Anderson of Oak Grove, Roger
D. Anderson of Monroe, David L. Anderson of Ponchatoula and Perry
H. Anderson of Marion, Arkansas; a sister, Hattie McMillion of Ft.
Smith, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers
were Wilbourne L. Anderson Jr., Michael N. Anderson,
Terry L. Anderson. Christopher E. Whitney, Roger D. Anderson II,
and Scott Anderson.

JOHN A. AUSTIN
Funeral
services were held from the Catron-Gay chapel Sunday afternoon
at 2 o'clock for John A. Austin,74,of Oak Grove, who died Daturday at
the Everett-Biggs clinic here.
The
Rev. M. Neathery officiated at the services and interment followed
in the Kilbourne cemetery under the direction of Catron-gay Funeral
Home.
He
is survived by his wife, Lillie; two sons, Monroe of Jonesboro and
Bill of Monroe; four step-sons, Riley and Joe Williams of Oak Grove,
John Williams of Hamburg, Ark. Stanford Williams U.S. Army, Japan; four
daughters,Mrs. Viola Powell and Mrs. Rena Pieraux, Red Cross, Mrs. Pearl
Martin, Sicily Island, Mrs. Johnny Evans, Monroe; six step-daughters,
Mrs. Lucille Hanson, Beaumont,Texas, Mrs. Lela Ashley, Oak Grove;
Miss Evie Williams, Eudora, Ark., Mrs. Eva Newton, Lisbon, Mrs. Lillie
Mae Stephenson, Monroe and Mrs. Betty Jean Sullivan, Lake Providence.

RITES HELD FRIDAY FOR MRS. AUSTIN
Funeral
services were held Friday at the Kilbourne cemetery for
Mrs. Laura Austin, 69, who succumbed the same day at her home
in the Kilbourne community. Officiating at the rites was the
Rev. Clyde Hart, pastor of the Eudora, Ark. and Kilbourne Baptist
Churches Surviving are three daughters and two sons; Mrs. Wallace Green,
Mrs. Mae Kirk, Fred and John Henry Austin.

MRS.
LESSIE AVERY DIES IN MENDENHALL
Mrs.
Lessie Avery, of Mendenhall, Ms., widow of T.M. Avery, and a
former resident of Oak Grove, from 1932 to 1942, died unexpectedly
Sunday morning. Although she had been in failing health, her death
was unexpected.
She
is survived by five children, a daughter Mrs. Ralph E. Boyte of
Jackson, Ms., Four sons, J.W. Holloway of Monroe, Lloyd Holloway of
Sterlington, A.J. Holloway of Jackson, Ms. and M Sgt Thomas P. O'Neal of
Duluth, Minn and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Monday at 3 P.M. at the Baptist
Church at D'Lo, Ms. with interment in Womack Cemetery near Mendenhall.

Thomas M. Avery
Funeral
services were conducted Monday afternoo at 3 o'clock from
D'lo Baptist church, D'Lo, Miss. for Thomas M.Avery, 66, who died
suddenly at his home Sunday morning.
The
Rev. Davis officiate and interment was in the Womack cemetery,
Mendenhall, Miss., under direction of Mims=Mitchell Funeral home of
McGee, Miss.
Mr.
Avery was a resident of West Carroll parish for 25 years prior
to moving to D'Lo.
Survivors
are his wife, Mrs. Lessie Thompson Avery; one son, J.D.
Avery, Miami, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Robinson, Mrs. M.F.
Paris, Lakeland, Fla., and Mrs. Charley May, Oak Grove; one step-
daughter, Mrs. R.E. Purvis, Jackson, Miss.; four step-sons, J.W.
Holloway, Monroe, Lloyde Holloway, Sterlington, Aubry Holloway,
Jackson, Miss. and Tom O'Oneal, Biloxi, Miss.; Three brothers,
Luther, Monroe, Bob, Jonesboro and Les, Urania; two sisters,
Mrs. Fannie Shows and Mrs. Cynthia Culpepper, Jonesboro; 18
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
