Welcome to Genealogy Trails!

Hello and welcome to the Genealogy Trails website for Caroline County.

Volunteers Dedicated to free genealogy
Our goal is to help you track your ancestors through time by transcribing genealogical and historical data and placing it online for the free use of all researchers.

This website is in need of a dedicated host!

This is a continuation of our original Illinois Genealogy Trails project and we are excited about this opportunity to expand into other states. We welcome your feedback and comments, and of course, your data contributions.

We're looking for folks who share our dedication to putting data online and are interested in helping this project grow.

If you think you might be interested in hosting a county website such as this one, please view the Volunteer Page for further information and contact Kim.

Caroline County was created in 1773 from parts of Dorchester and Queen Anne's Counties.
It was named for Caroline Eden, daughter of Charles Calvert, 5th Baron Baltimore, sister of Frederick Calvert, 6th Baron Baltimore, and wife of Maryland's last colonial governor, Robert Eden (1741-1784). Its county seat is Denton

Caroline is the only Eastern Shore county not to touch either the Chesapeake Bay or Atlantic Ocean; it is also the only Maryland county that does not have an interstate or U.S. Highway running through it.
