If you would like to be kept informed of our state and county website updates, subscribe to our mailing lists Queen Anne's County is named for Queen Anne of Great Britain (lived 1665-1714, reigned 1702-1714) who was Queen when the county was established in 1706. In 1773 a part of Queen Anne's County, together with a portion of Dorchester County, was taken to form Caroline County.
