Isaac Westgate, (for three distinct larcenies) for stealing a horse, pork, a pair of stockings to make a bridle of, a pair of pistols, and an iron bar, &c. &c.--deemed by the court to be a common and notorious thief, and sentenced accordingly--3 days solitary and five years hard labor in State Prison.

Hannah Swift, of New Bedford, against whom four indictments were found for larceny and receiving stolen goods, was adjudged guilty of every offence[sic], and sentenced to 3 days solitary and two years hard labor in Col. Bayles Institution for the correction of wrong ones.

Timothy G. Coffin, Esq. of New Bedford for an assault upon a gentleman, pleaded ndo contendre, and was fined by the Court twenty dollars, and costs.

This is all that had transpired up to yesterday at 11 o'clock, when our reporter left.  At the time of his leaving the case of the Commonwealth vx. Ezra Hathaway, (of New Bedford,) for ________________________, was on trial.

It would seem that New Bedford has been too strongly represented at the Taunton Court.  The thought that every criminal case, thus far, had its origin in this town is rather humiliating to our pride.  It proves one of two things: That our public officers are more vigilant than those of other towns in the county; or, That we have had more bad persons within our precinct.

[Sheriff Gordon arrived from Taunton last evening with Mrs. Swift, and safely lodged her in the place to which she was sentenced by the Court]
