Chippewa County
Michigan

Presented by
"Genealogy Trails"

My name is Christine Walters , your County Co-ordinator for Chippewa County. Welcome to the "Upper Peninsula", that unique part of Michigan that is so special, in so many ways. We will have information including, Birth, Death, Marriages, Bios, Obits and Local History. But in addition to all that, our biggest committment will be to place your "Ancestors" and your "Interests" at the top of the list. It was your family that "made the difference" in Chippewa County History and left their mark forever. They need to be presented in a special way. My husband is a Chippewa County Native.. he was born and raised in the "Soo" and talks of it often, but his family were not old pioneers, they didn't get there until the mid 1900's. I'll need your help in finding all the Pioneer Families and walking the "trail" with them.

This postcard is the "Henry L. Frick", a freighter that used to pass through the Soo Locks on a regular basis. The building in the picture is where the Corps of Engineers had their offices. Newton Caleb Walters, my husbands father, was employed by them for 33 years. For most of that time, Mr. Walters held the 2nd floor corner office nearest the ship.

We are always looking for Michigan County Co-ordinators,
as well as several States that are still up for adoption.
