War Memorial Hospital

Chippewa County Michigan
In conjunction with Michigan Nurses Week, War Memorial Hospital entertained area registered nurses at a supper honoring living graduates of the former War Memorial School of Nursing, which was in existence here from 1902 to 1934.
Approximately 200 nurses received their training during that period. From the files of The Evening News, this photo shows the graduating class of 1928 who received their R.N. degrees.
The 1928 graduates were, left to right, Miss Emma Chenard, Newberry; Miss Elma Kulma, Iron Mountain; Miss Cinderella Richards, Sault, Ont.; Mrs. Hazel McMullen Petosky, Trout Lake; Mrs. Gladys Cuthbert Peterson, Sault; Mrs. J'Hannah Arrand Baker, Sault; Mrs. Alma Carley Fowler, Sault.
The superintendent of nurses was Miss Anna B. Northrup, R.N., shown in the center of the picture.
